  1. Paul Bradley is the one to get the floor pans and contact Dave Maher at Precision Coachworks in Billerica Ma. for the rockers or subrails. I sent Dave the pattern several years ago and he made the subrails in kit form, meaning you will weld them together, this allows for adjustments and is cost saving ,they are full lenth begaining inside the engine compartment just forward of the firewall and run the lenth alway to the rear wheel well. I have installed Pauls pans and used Daves subrail kit in two different 39 Zephyrs with excellent results.

  2. As I understand it the Lincoln center sections were not serviceable and were replaced as a unit on an exchange basis . The old one went back to Ford for the rebuild and the housings were painted with red lead primer and not painted.

  3. thanks , hows the 39:)

Hi Larry, I have finished replacing the floors and have fabricated and replaced the lower extensions on both doors and quarter panels . I have the frame out from under the body and need to get it blasted then I will be ready to put the body back on the frame. A regular job plus somehow I got convinced our kitchen needed a redo has really slowed me down.

  4. I have a friend in S.C. who is parting the running gear from his 39 Zephyr. Front and rear axles complete with brakes and wheels and tires. Steering box. Completely rebuilt V12 with transmission complete from fan to universal joint, air cleaner to oil pan. Call him at 864-978-0656 ask for Wilbur.

    Thanks,Ken

  5. Hi!

I have a couple of Lincoln Zephyrs, but those are as horrible condition as you can image! I'm from Finland - faraway from your great junkyards, and middle of the snow!! I have pieces from 6 or 7 different Zephyrs and I have to weld those part together with right dimensions. Now! If someone have some documents or self taken dimensions of Zephyrs frame and/or body shell, I'm very happy if you can send those to me. By e-mail might be easier way?

Please! Save my christmas and - the most important - help me saving those zephyrs!!!

    Thank you!!! tuomo.parikka@gmail.com

I have the frame out from under my 39 and its bare. I will email you some pictures but it will be after the Christmas holidays.

  6. I have my originals to my 39 LZ but they are in sad shape. Can Hunley rework them? if so could you give me contact info?

    Thanks!

His number is 706-866-4875 . When you say yours are in sad shape, does that refer to the rubber or the steel running board itself. I dont think he is into restoring the steel board but if they are in good condition he will clean and blast them for an extra cost.

  7. Here are some pictures of the running boards I made then had then covered by Hunley Acuff in Georgia. In the pictures I took of the underside you can see those steel runners that Zephyrdave inquired about where they bolt up to the lower rear of the front fender.

  8. Similar appearing pieces were used as interior dash garnish on Deluxe Fords of 1946-48 production. Are what you have metal or the strange plastic made from Soy Bean oil?

They are made of steel and about 42" or more in lenth. The picture makes them look smaller than they actually are.

  9. I am at the same point of the restoration of my 39 coupe as you are. I was wondering if those running board pieces on the quarter panels were made by you or are they original. Mine are all rotted away and I have to make them as well as the running boards and running board covers on the doors. Could you post some pics of the running boards and board covers so I can see what they are supposed to look like from top and bottom. It would be greatly appreciated. Dave

I had to make new ones on the doors and quarter panels. I will also have to make new running boards that gets covered with rubber. I have done this once before on my friends 39 Coupe. He then sent the running boards to Hunley Acuff in Ga. and he vulcanized new rubber on the steel boards I made. I will get some pics of his finished boards and post them.

  10. The 1936 and 1937 block did not have the front engine mount part of the block they had the mount separate that you had to bolt on.

    Thanks

    Frenchy

Maybe the block I have is not a 36-37. Its not set up for hydraulic lifters so I thought had to be 36 or 37 . Didnt the hydraulic lifters come with the 38s? This block I have has the front mount cast on to it. I will take some pics and post them.

  11. Thanks Peecher for the information, now you got me thinking about building a big bore V12. Standard bore V8 pistons are cheap and will help offset the cost of boring VS the high price of the V12 pistons and still have to cover the price of boring. BTW , just how many cubic inches does that give you by using the ford pistons ?
