  1. Interesting these Pontiac's were shipped from the factory with the hubcaps installed on the wheels. I wonder if that was the industry practice in the 1930's and possibly the 1940's. Not sure about all new cars of a later vintage, but I believe it was common in the '50's and '60's to factory ship with the hubcaps in the trunk. John
  2. I'm willing to bet the lifters BOB's is selling are made in CHINA, as well. It appears they peddle a lot of parts sourced there. Not condemning them...just stating what has become a fact of life in the auto parts world these days. I would stick with having your original lifters refaced. I read a post a couple of weeks ago (I think it was on the V8 BUICK forum) where guys were talking about this exact topic. Someone had used an experienced shop out west (I believe) that did an exceptional job on the refacing. I think the price was about $6 per lifter for the work. The consensus of all the guys commenting on that posting was that ALL of today's new flat tappet cam lifters were sh-t. Most came from China, some from Mexico (with these POSSIBLY being better quality). Hardness problems. Also, many right out of the box were found to be defectively ground on the bottom, so the lifter wouldn't rotate, when in operation. A recipe for a ruined cam after 300 to 600 miles, guys were indicating. John
  3. So many posts about this car....and yet, we've never received any first-hand information from someone who went and looked at the car in person. After all, its been for sale for TEN MONTHS. John
  4. Yes, a good point about the function of the hard-to-find Rudge Whitworth wrench I have for sale. I should have remembered the ring nut comes off with a special spanner. I've attached a photo of a typical one. John
  5. This is a Rudge Whitworth #120 hubcap wrench. This wrench measures 3-3/16" across the flats, and is 11-3/8" long. Good original condition, still has a few areas of factory black paint here and there. The price is $180, plus the shipping. Thanks for looking, John.

  8. I have three original factory literature pieces for the 1939 BUICK, all series. The first is a unique dealer salesman's fact card. The second two were included in the 1939 BUICK glovebox for the new car's owner. Many of these pieces were discarded within a few years, it seems. I have for sale the following: --1939 BUICK Salesman's Car and Accessories price list card from Homestead BUICK in Homestead, PA. Prices shown for all '39 models. Interesting factory accessory info on the flip side. Excellent condition. $10 --1939 BUICK Owner's Welcome Letter from the BUICK general sales manager in Flint. This two-page letter was included with the owner's manual in the new car's glovebox. This is a '39 literature item that's seldom seen (usually tossed by the new owner). Excellent condition. $10 --1939 BUICK Chassis Lube Guide. Inserted as a loose item inside the back cover of the '39 owner's manual. included lubrication mileage intervals and lube products to be used. Many were tossed by the second or third owners over the years. Excellent condition. $10 As shown, each of these interesting original 1939 BUICK pieces is priced at $10 each, plus the shipping. Thanks for looking. John
  9. I'm selling a pair of 1929 through 1938 BUICK Window Regulator Repair Kits. They are designed to repair the looseness and "slop" in the side window regulator crank mechanism. In addition to repairing the side window regulators, believe these kits are also good for the vent window regulators. But, I can't guarantee that, sorry. The price for the PAIR of kits is $45, plus the shipping.
  10. Thanks for checking in, "Rusty". At first I didn't understand what you meant, since this vintage frame I'm selling is completely adjustable in size. But then, I dredged up a memory I had about the design of the older Tennessee license plates. NOW I understand your comment completely! John
  11. Bob, I'd suggest you order a copy of the 1941 BUICK factory shop manual. You're likely going to refer to it many times in the course of getting your '41 on the road. It's available in printed reproduction form, as well as digital. Either version costs very little money. John
  12. Hi, Tomas. I sent you a PM about rear wheel bearings. Just click on the little flashing envelope at the top right of this page. Thanks. John
  13. This is a pair of new BUICK black Clutch & Brake Pedal Pads. Purchased new a few years ago, and then never-used. These fit 1934 to 1936 Series 40, 1937 to 1939 Series 40 and 60, 1940 to 1947 Series 40, 50, and 70, and finally 1948 to 1954 (all models with manual trans, and standard brakes) The price for the PAIR is just $20, INCLUDING the U.S. shipping.
  14. Here's a very nice set of stainless steel cowl trim pieces for 1939 BUICK, all Special and Century models. These are left and right, and measure 4-7/8" long. As I recall from working on my '39's over the years, these cowl trim pieces (especially the driver's side one) take a beating. I remember it was hard to find undented ones, even 20 years ago. This pair I have available is very nice. Absolutely no dents. These are very presentable, as is. However, there are a few light scratches here and there, so these pieces might be buffed before installing on a fully-restored car. The price for the pair is $75, plus the shipping.
