  1. Ivan, the 1928 Stutz with the Woodlites ran in the first Watkins Glen road race as well I believe. It sold for $78,000. The blown Coupe looks great restored, it turns out at the Vintage event every September at Lime Rock Park. Bob
  2. This was on a midget race car that was built before 1928. It was cut in half top to bottom, and side to side and welded back together, then chrome plated. What do you think it started life as? look at the hood lacing holes, depth front to back is 5 1/8 overall. Buick & Dodge have that general shape, what do you think?
  3. Any chance they will make them with Dark chocolate? That could be addictive.
  4. Anyone else catch the start of the Boyd Coddington/Reese's/ELVIS/'57 Caddy give-a-way project on the TLC channel last night? Will it get any turntable time up on the hill?
  5. Maybe it is a scam, but don't brand everyone in the UK as a crook! I've had great deals with guys across the pond, BOTH of them. You can ship a car to the UK for far less than New York to LA.
  6. I alway liked the flour story. AK was in the local grocery story and a bag of flour had fallen off the shelf and scattered all over the floor. He offered to sweep it up, IF he could have it! His father had made a fortune as a flour commodies broker. I did hear that he was one of the few people ever booted out of AACA.
  7. I went to the auction, still have the catalog. A.K.Miller was not well liked, nobody that had any dealings with him had anything good to say about him. One guy that I've known for over 40 years, one of the nicest guys I know, unleashed a torent of expletives about the guy, that was so out of character it really proved all the other stories were true. Stolen parts were pointed out by others, it was quite an event.
  8. They all look fabulous under a Monster Truck, and get better looking with every driveover.
  9. My '37 Harley quest started 12 years ago when I desided I wanted a twin to the one Dad bought new. Couldn't afford one but I did buy a rear fender for $375.00, and quickly adapted to the Harley parts pricing system. Bit by bit I found every original part I needed to build a 1937 WL Harley, only the handlebars are repops. To make things more difficult 1937 has a lot of "One Year Only" parts, frame, tanks, oil & gas lines. It's on the back burner now that the 1925 Henderson 4 powered Midget arrived.
  10. Hi Shawn, Welcome to the AACA Forun, thanks for posting an intro, most people don't. We need all the posts we can get to keep this thing rolling, it's not fast moving like other sites. Good luck with all your projects. Hot Rods are just fine with me.
  11. That sounds fair to me, finding a mate will take some time.
  12. Sounds like a license plate topper.
  13. thanks for posting the photo! If you ever see a Stoddard - Dayton be sure to ask to see the engine running, great exposed overhead valve gear to watch.
  14. The stuff is For Sale????? How much for the Miller carb info?
  15. I guess only Post War car guys would care about such things.
  16. Thanks for posting the nice detailed photos. They are NOT Ford doors, the hinges are rather odd and should help ID what they fit.
  17. Once in my life I'd like to look at the cars at Pebble Beach, what was it like on your first visit? I know what it costs to get in and buy a burger.
  18. Found this Pontiac cap buried under a collapsed chicken coop. Note that the Chiefs face is copper plated and the rest of the cap is chromed.
  19. <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Originally Posted By: Clincher</div><div class="ubbcode-body">I wonder where is the 1866 Dudgeon Steam Wagon?
