  1. I saw an add for a used fiberglass parade boot for a 69 caddy :-) Even if they were aftermarket it would be a nice thing to have for those bikini girl parades! did the 69 buicks have snaps on the top cover or were they the same as the 70 with the plastic tabs that slide under the trim? My thought is ig Caddy and Buick used the same cover setup then the parade boots should be interchangable...did 71 start the new top design and was the boot cover design changed as well?
  2. I think the caddies had them prior to 1970 ... are they compatable :-) and what years/models?
  3. I know I've asked this before and for the life of me I cannot find the thread... What Parade boots are compatable with the 70 Fullsize Buicks? I see alot of caddy boots on the net for sale and was wondering about compatability between the years...note this is for the hard parade boot designed to have people sit on them during parades.
  4. hey greg, you might want to move this into the "general" forum and out of the "buy sell" forum :-)
  5. hahaha Since I left Rochester two years ago, they have had: Earthquakes Blackouts Rolling Brownouts Ice storms SNOW! SONW! and more SNOW! Then when it got warm this summer it started to rain! The group I work for in Rochester have been telling me that ir has not stopped...we could use some of that rain here...no precip since April...no wonder cars live forever out here! I'm hoping work will have a reason to fly me back to Rochester next year around mid-July! :-) They have flown me back twice a year (like it or not) so maybe next year I can schedule my trip and have some more Buick fun! This last trip I went down to Corning to see bQuick and his Electra Trifecta!
  6. I know it's an exageration, but after living in Rochester for ten years it is what I remember! hehehehe I'm still waiting for the snow in San Diego...none yet! I may have to sell these two ice scrapers I found after our move! hehehe
  7. Batavia is half way (more or less) between Rochester, New York and Buffalo, New York down the I90 Snow corridor. :-) No worries though as it stops snowing in early June and does not start again until early September! Thank goodness my lovely wife made me move to San Diego...I'm still waiting for the snow here! hehehehe
  8. IMHO, I would suspect that it was done by a third party or a coach company as a special order. Take a gander at some of the professional car attributes...smaller window, side trim from a hearse, and that large chrome nose piece! Also of note would be that the guy contacted Buick but they did not *confirm* it came from Buick that way...and he did not state that directly. as far as the "GS" claim, well he appears to be reffering to the 455 engine...which was standard in the Electra in 1973 :-) I agree a Buick person with alot of knowledge on the 73 era cars could check it out and review the documentation. My opinion would be that is was built by a 3rd party from a stock 1973 Electra.
  9. I have always run a wider tire on my vehicles than comes stock from the dealer. Usually one or two size difference...wider and a little shorter. The factory usually gives you a size or two for interpolation but it does change the speedo...as for this I've always used those traffic side radar display things that tell you how fast your going as they seem to be all over the place now. I will run by it as a couple speeds and note the difference ... not very scientific but it's close enough :-)
  10. http://www.mustangsandmore.com/ubb/DanJonesAerodynamics2.html it demonstartes what I'm saying by using a flat piec of plywood...tilt it up at speed and you get lift, tilt it down and you get downforce...no need for an airfoil design :-) It was probably more important back then to look pleasing then match an airfoil...especially since the same effect was reached with just a negative angle of attack.
  11. I think instead of being a classic lifting body airfoil, these "wings" are designed more to use the principle of pushing air instead of creating the pressure difference we think about with airfoils. Kinda like what NASCAR does with the rear spoiler?? I probably tossed that book from my old Aerospace Engineering classes...too many equations with no numbers
  12. there is a set of rear bumper fillers on ebay for <gulp> 144 bucks...as for the rear bumper, I picked up a flyer from the bumper shop in LA and they say they have rear bumpers (rechromed) for under 400 dollars for the 84 lesabre. A little lower with a "core" although it may not be worth shipping the core back as shipping may cost more than the difference! I have no idea what kind of work these guys do but it does give you an option and a price to start with... The Bumper Shop 1-800-831-4421 can you post pictures of your car? I always loved the 84 LeSabre...it was my Sr. prom car! :-)
  13. Can you post the part numbers off the boxes so we know what years these match up with? Thanks!
  14. There was a 70 LeSabre 4-door at the Brown Field Ecology in San Diego when I was there about two weeks ago. ZERO rust and it appeared no dents or dings. I took the whole front bumper, grill assemblies, and the entire dash off this car for my 70 Electra. You might want to see if there is a phone number for the place and see if they offer the service to pull it and send it to you...the car appeared to be something that someone started to restore and stopped then it ended up in the yard. It has no interior and a 350 block that looked freshly painted with an empty engine bay otherwise...
  15. In case anyone wants to see what the models for China look like. Buick China Web Site It loads a little slow even on a braodband connection but that should be expected since this is hosted in China.
  16. It has the 1970 version of the 455 in it. Here are some pictures I took of the engine bay on my trip.
  17. your welcome. you might want to post this to the general forum instead of the performance forum next time. You may get responses on the general forum from folks who do not read the performance forum.
  18. California driving is like driving with a trailer downhill and coming on someone you *thought* was moving only to see them stopped! Lots and lots of people who like to pull right in front of you and slam on the brakes...even planning ahead makes it hard to stop when people do that and I thought disc brakes would provide more stopping power...
  19. Cool! Yes I have *lots* of pictures of BqUICK's 70 Electra. I will be doing a pictorial for it soon. Hey check out the pictures SMartin put up from Plano in the "Plano Nationals" topic. Is that your Electra or is there another one! :-)
  20. Adam those are some excellent pictures! Thanks for posting them! This should be a great start for Roberta along with Bill's page!
  21. on the way...i also included the judges form as a word doc...the main form got all confused in the OCR engine so it has to be corrected :-)
  22. Hi Roberta, I'm just soliciting the pictures right now! Don't have any yet but Lamar has some and I'm sure others do as well! Bill has that nice IE layout that could also be added and if he was willing to share the source pictures we could make so non-IE browsers could also view. Is there anything new for the 2005 Nationals yet? Like a logo? I just made the application and judge form a PDF to post if you want me to send those to you as well! It would be nice to have a page on the BCA site for the 04 and 05 nationals and make this a yearly addition. If you need any help I can assist.
  23. I can make a section on the electra225.com website and post them there unless the owners of the bca.org site want to make a section for them! hint-hint :-) Bill, if you want to send me the pictures you have I can make a page out of them that will not require IE or Microsoft to view and send the code and format bcak to you so you can port it to your site...or maybe the bca.org site will want to make a section and we can post them there (poke poke!) bigfella "at" electra225.com
  24. Has anyone posted any pictures from the Plano Nationals yet? If so, where? I want to link from our site to some pictures from the National event. Have some pictures and want them posted? Send them to me and I'll post them! We need to get something up to remember Plano and start to build up for Batavia!
