1. Szaban,
I have paid as high as $30.00 for a used cap
and as low as $15.00.These look pretty decent,I would not pay more than $100-120 and you still have to pay shipping cost too.
As far as the quality just compare to other one under reatta (brand new N.O.S.) for $81.00 and bids still climbing just for one. cap.WHEW!
I understand by posts on this forum that :
1. The caps can easily be polished if you have old ones.
2.There are others on this forum that have some available.
3.There are still some available new from GM.
ronvb
  2. They should come up on search for reatta or type in- 601163715---in search box. Up to $81.00 now.
ronvb
  3. tcams76,
The break is the artistic flair!
ronvb
  4. TCAMS76,
I never noticed that before, I guess it was done to give it a flair to the body. Almost like motion accents. It does flow that way.
ronvb
5. What paint stripe or gap? Exactly what are you referring to?
ronvb
  6. I spotted that one on e-bay too. We have a 90 Maui blue and his is definitely a different shade of blue. This salesman should admit to himself that he is not retired.
ronvb
  7. E-bay posting: 1989 Reatta,maroon, 118k,no-cd,no-sunroof,no-16way,1G4EC11C2KB905483.
ronvb
  8. grm,
I bought a used one from someone on this forum and had a locksmith switch the locks.
If you find one -you also need the key to go with it to make the lock-switch easier. total cost to me $20./latch,& $2. for the locksmith=$22.00.
ronvb
  9. Randy,
I have a 90 Reatta and the catch-lever is on the outside rear edge towards the seat bottom-it is a strictly manual mechanism. Some times you have to grab the lever up and coax the seat back and forth a little and it should fold. Don't use exteme force. You can see the gear mechanism if you look close.Hpoe that helps.
ronvb
  10. Harry,
My 90 has that problem too. I saw on another website possibly linked to Barney's data page- FAQ'S that answered that problem. Here is the url: http://home.earthlink.net/~w3qp/faq.html#
steering
I hope I have that right.
Ronvb
  11. Renthead and Barney Eaton,
I am by no means trying to dicourage the original author of this posting. Quite the contrary I love my Reatta!
The author asked what kind of problems they should look for. These are items that I have seen that are common with high mileage or vehicles not taken care of as well as a few weakspots of the car regardless of mileage.
I believe every vehicle manufactured has it's strong and weak points.
Renthead---don't be discouraged--just read some of the posts here and look the Reatta of your choice over well before buying.
Barney----sorry if I sounded negative.
RonVB
  12. Renthead,
We might be able to help with Reattas for sale if we knew what area you live in, unless you are willing to travel far.
Typical problems: Brakes--watch for abs and brake light warnings.Check-engine light on-
possible sensor or computer related components problems.Any chipped/broken windsheilds, side vent window-mirror breakage-
very expensive to replace.Sunroofs-rarely operative.Headlight switch/dash light problems.Power windows-slow motors.Front and rear stuts-if have not been replaced -probably will need to be.Headlight doors-inoperative or slam closed. Saggy headliners.
Flaking clearcoats on some paint colors.
Im summary: I f car is well taken care of a majority of these things may have been taken care of or if low mileage may not need taken care of yet.The Reatta is a unique and fun driving vehicle. The drivetrain is dependable and usually can get decent gas mileage if set -up right.SORRY if too long.
RonVB
  13. Guys,
Great show--the cream of the crop.
When I went to their website there was still no price on #463,they must have just updated afterwards.
How about the Dale Earnhardt racing uniform for over 10k?
ronvb
  14. To add to the list: I know of a burgundy
'89 on a used car-lot in Union and a red '88 on a used car lot in Woodbridge/Avenel area.
ronvb
  15. Szaban,
I don't recall seeing the olds pace car #463
on tv and you are correct as far as results not being listed on the website. There is a contact feature on their website --have you tried that?
ronvb
  16. Wufibug,
If you are referring to the door nylon/plastic fasteners- you should be able to take one out and match it up at any auto body shop supply house or possibly Pep Boy's auto store(HELP item). Worse scenario Buick may still have them too.It is possible that GM used that fastener for many other models made.
ronvb
  17. RSgrad,
I have a 90 Reatta, and had a viper security system with auto-start feature installed at local stereo/alarm shop. Since the car already had keyless entry and security system
from Buick it was a breeze for the shop to do.They had car for about 1/2 day and cost me about $600.00.
ronvb

I helped a buddy of mine with his 69 Camaro restoration and his conv top frame was bent in storage----WHAT A NIGHTMARE-trying to get the top to sit right----we finally ended up buying a used -solid donor frame and starting over. That did the trick finally.
ronvb

    used cars

    Bigrog,
I am a firm believer in telling a buyer what is right and what is wrong with a vehicle. Then let them make the choice--this way they don't come back later. I think overall the average Joe is leary to buy a used car from a "mechanics shop" because the general public thinks the car was probably on its last leg and doctored up just to resell.
There is a buyer for every car out there the question is how fast do you have to move it.
ronvb
