As I stated previously, the 51 Special had an all-new body, and I personally would not try to interchange body or related parts between the two. Ask Joe Taubits, Steve Ehrlich or Ken Reeves. I am sure these men can tell you for sure.

When 6 to 12 volt switching is considered,I tell the person involved to look at the electrical items involved, and ask,"do you want to replace all of these?" Case in point,I installed a 55 engine in a 52, I decided to change the field coils in the starter, and 100 thousand miles later,I knew it had been the correct way to go.

Measure before you buy.The Specials were re-tooled for 1951

Try Wheatbelt (ad in "Bugle")

If you cannot find a new one,try Wheatbelt(ad in Bugle),he would likely have a good used one.

I have had good success using a tow dolly made in Boyden,Iowa. The short ,very low bed tilts, you drive the car on,tie it down and you are on your way.It works better on fwd cars than rwd cars.It is very low and MUCH lighter than any trailer. On rwd cars,we back it on,and lock the steering gear. They wont even SELL you a licence,as it is considered a "part of the car"in our state,

Try taking the convertor cover off, then remove the bolt that goes into the input shaft.

The units for the 50 & 70 series are longer than those for the 40 & 60 series.

The rods I need are part #1393817. They fit only a 248 engine. Were used on 49 Dynaflow and S.M. after jobs ,and all 1950 Special.

Check with a gentleman further down in this site,he is looking for one of the factory "fix" kits for a 39. Regarding a bulletin, there have been things called "Silent Recall", that's where "fixes"are taken care of on an individual basis. I remember the kits,as I worked in a Buick dealership when 39's were atill near-new cars

When I worked in a Buick dealerskip before WWII.there were kits to reinforce early 39 frames. All I can say,is keep looking, someone will come up with one. Try Wheatbelt,(Ads in Bugle) and Steve Ehrlich,Great Bend Kansas. Both of these are fine persons, very sharp on the product, and the best to deal with. Ralph Crisp

I have a 41. I have a spare NORS grille. Its heavy(not aluminum) nicely done, and could pass for Buick, but does not have the ridges on the lower bar.(Thry will probably remove yours if they re-chrome it ). 41 grilles are hrd to do.

I may have some,.but in case i do not,OLCAR would have them. Ralph

F.Y.I. Years ago,we had a 30-47 and when we had engine trouble,I installed a 29 engine. It had slightly smaller pistons, but had the same fuel pump arrangement as the 30.so no problem

No,they must be from a 248 engine.49(LATE sm)OR DYNAFLOW or 50 Special. Thanks for your reply !

Your AFB has a right and a left float. Carefully look down into the carburetor with air cleaner off, engine idling. If one side is running too rich, you probably will see gasoline discharging from a main nozz;le,then at least you will know that if a float is not doing it's job, which slde it is that is causing the problem.

Need at least 4,insert type connecting rods for a 248 cubic inch engine.(late 49 or 50)

Give us the cylinder bore size so we can figure which engine is involved

My first "Company Car"was a 1948 Roadmaster sedanette (loaded) It was sold to a dealer for just under $2000.00.The usual discount was increased 5 percent,as it was sold as a "Brass Hat", so it may have listed at around $2800.00
