I have used Easy Off oven cleaner. I has been safe to any plastic I have tried.
But you better check it. Use gloves or it will turn your finger nails brown.
(Trust me I know)

I agree usually the door is at least 6 inch lower that the ceiling height.
-
That is pretty much the normal with a teapot carburetor.
It's not really a problem as 6 volt starters are 6 volt motors so long cranking does hurt them.

I have a 2002 we got in late 2001 with over 90,000 miles on it.
I was offered $13K trade on a new Prius last fall.
I only paid $19K for the car new after the tax credit, so would say that is pretty good.
Last I looked average retail was about 16K.
Here is a picture of it pulling a trailer at the Cedar Rapids Show 2002
47 mpg pulling the trailer isn't bad.

It's a 812 Custom Beverly.
You have to watch those spell checkers.
They wouldn't know a good car if you spelled one

Looking the 1936 Cord 810 accessories book
I see and optional "Oil Bath Air Cleaner".
Did the 810 come with an air cleaner if
you didn't get the accessory air cleaner?

"Me thinks the model company out of the Chicago area mentioned here, from the late 1980's was Monogram Models, which by that time was the only plastic model producer in the Chicago area (Morton Grove IL in those years) actively engaged in tooling new product."
May have been Monogram, I can't remember that far back, I was thinking it started with a M. I think later I was told the company he worked for was bought out and he lost his job, he was old enough so he retired. The guy was strange so I didn't pursue a friendship.

I did my 55 bird the way I have done others.
An 8 inch vice and a 3/4 drive socket set.
Pushed old ones out and pushed the new ones in.
-
Haven't done this with Cars but it is common on Motorcycles.
The VIN is Stamped on the frame. the frame is bent quite often in accidents so it must be replaced. I know on BMW the replacement frames come numberless.
in Indiana you have to have a police officer verify
first the old frame is unusable
two the vin # of the unusable frame
Three that the old vin number is stamped on the replacement frame.
I think on BMW you had return the bent frame to BMW
then you're good to go.
Or at least that is how it was done a few years ago.

A friend of mine bought and fixed up a car hauler.
He thought he could make a profit.
When he went to sell it it found the buyer couldn't get insurance for cheaper than $3000 a year a commercial insurance. He has check with a several insurance companies and find the same thing. They won't insure a car hauler.
Now he has found that no one will buy it because of insurance cost.
he even has the price down to what he has in it.
Anyone out the have a car hauler they insure reasonably.
This is for personal use no commercial.
He even had it on Ebay with a $5K reserve
The high bidder contacted him and agreed to give him the $5K but then back out when he contacted his insurance company. he said he would buy it if he could find insurance.
I am putting a link to the ad only so you can see what type of car hauler I am talking about.

Back in the late 80's I had my Amphicar up at Lake Shafer in Northern Indiana.
A man followed me to shore and struck up a conversation.
He was a professional model maker from Chicago IL.
(He carved the models that the molds are made from the MPC in Chicago)
His specially was WW III war planes but his department at MPC also made cars.
He was totally taken by the Amphicar, I took him a ride.
He took two 36 exposures rolls of slides of the car, made sketches and took measurements for over an hour. He thought MPC would make a model of my Amphicar.
He said he had gathered all the information they would need, lots more than the usually had.
He came by my parents cottage about a year later saying MPC had totally rejected the idea.
They didn't think there was a big enough sales base.
MPC made model kits and looks for wide appeal.

My 1916 Elgin even on a flat smooth road you would never exceed 30 mph
(timed with a GPS) unless you had a death wish.

I don't think underpowered was the problem.
I had a friend who had a 1975 it had a Ford 351 Windsor V8
I think the car was made in Canada of all Detroit parts except the body.
I think the unattractive colors and problem with the doors was it's downfall.
The doors on his 75 were nightmares including trapping him inside more than once. Seems like it had and electric/air system sometimes taking several minutes to open the doors.
The picture you posted was from the car coral at Hershey 12,000 miles $16,500
Is there such an animal

I know Ford did make some Show Birds (preproduction) with Fairlane headlight doors and side trim.
I have read no production cars came from the factory that way.
But some say they did.
I know people have added the trim maybe they added to script too.
I have never heard of any with fairlane script.
