I've spoken to Jim Mann a few times about the car he built for a customer - and I supplied the intake manifolds for the car. I guess I'd better call Jim and ask how the mate-up of the bell housing and transmission went. But, will the '41 bell housing fit my '37 engine?
Thanks for the photos, Rex. You did send some of those to me before.
Should fit.

I think I have one. I converted Ken Holstes 37 coupe express to overdrive many years ago and think the standard trans is still in my garage somewhere. I'll look.

Andy Beckman. On thursdays Monte. Get numbers first. Also join the Antique Studebaker Club.

The museum has many parts prints you can purchase to have the parts reproduced. Get a parts book from Quinn and look up the part number needed for the part. Don't expect the museum to find it for you. The Shrock brothers would be a good place to start for rubber parts. The brake pedal pads are already available.

No, stude 34 35 only.

The ASC will be using the Spring Hill Estates by Marriott, in Mishawaka, In. The rate is $106 per night and includes breakfast. The ASC hospitality room will be there also. http://www.marriott.com/hotels/trave...5-54ba596febe2
This is a very nice area with many quality restaurants, motels and shopping. Mention the ASC when making reservations. We have a block of rooms reserved. Easy drive to the fair grounds and the museum. -
Are you sure of the numbers? Could the first be a 7?

You should invest in shop and chassis parts manuals..

There is no seal on the slinger. I went to the wood hobby store near me and bought wood that was strong enough to pound in the slot but not too hard as to not absorb the oil and swell. I forgot what kind of wood I bought but still have some. Then cut it to size. About 3/16 by 3/16 and 4 inches long. when putting on the rear main cap I put a very thin coating of silicone on the cap sides. I also put some silicone in the slot before tapping in the stick seals.

Check over both motors. I believe there are more differences. I parted out a 35 dictator and sold the motor because a couple guys were looking for a 35 block because of the differences on the castig where the clutch brackets mount.

I gave John McCall some samples of these so he could reproduce them,
Ask Rex Miltenberger for his contact info.

I've given up on trying to contact John. He doesn't even answer my calls now. It is a shame that someone with his ability is so irresponsible.

what model 35?

Gary, I do not install timing gears by drawing them on. It is too easy to damage both fibre or aluminum gears with the load on the cam shaft from the valve springs. i remove the lifter blocks and cam. Then use a press to install the gear and install with no problems. If you do draw it on, make sure you rotate the cam or crank to keep the load off the gear as it spirals on.

I have nos gears when you break that one. If you use a jaw puller on that fibre gear it will break. You should have a threaded hole in the center for a puller.

There are 2 people that reproduced this part. Contact Tom Shrock or check his website.

Actually, I did finally acquire the four I needed. I had two rebuilt at Five Points but I think I'm going to send the other pair to Apple Hydraulics. The guys at Apple can practice on Rex's parts, LOL! But, thanks for keeping me in mind.
Twice I had leakers from five points. Never a problem with Apple. Still hard to pay the price. But that said, it it a real pain to rebuild them myself.

I just sent 4 off to Apple for rebuild. Went through my stash to pick the best 4. I still have about a dozen left.

I seen Ed Princes 36 dictator that he found a reproduction tank and just had to relocated the filler neck.

Was it something I said? Several people commented about the wheels and two even sounded like they might want them so I added more pictures and measurements. Is there something in the photos or specs that takes them out of the Studebaker world? Thanks!
I am not able to check the bolt pattern for a couple weeks. If the pattern will work on the 35 commander I would need 5 matching wheels. I think Peter needs the one that has replaceable spokes to match the ones on his car. Thanks for supplying the info. Hopefully this posting will find a buyer for you

I see yours are 40 spoke but have welded spokes. Peters photo has replaceable spokes.

I knew Long made the radiators but did not know they got into making the grilles.
