  1. I am looking for a good used or NOS driver's (and passenger if a pair is availabe) front door armrest end plastic chrome piece that has the integral reflector. I have attached a pic of one from a 1960 Invicta convertible. This piece was supposedly used on the 1959 Electra coupe as well as all of the 1960 convertibles and 1960 coupes (not certain about the LeSabre coupe). The group number is 14.686 and the part number is 4751218 (driver) and 4751219 (passenger). The previous owner of my Electra 225 convertible thought that silver paint would look just fine on this piece on the driver's door. Ugh..... Any help provided would be greatly appreciated. jonosso@aol.com

  4. I better go get an eye exam. That attachment sure does look like an early Ford Bronco or International Scout.......... not quite a 1928 Buick. <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
  5. Most of us have seen this car somewhere in the past at either a show, in a book, or on eBay. I stumbled upon this website with it (apparently) for sale yet again. http://www.vaultcars.com/36BuickTowncar/36buickTC.htm
  6. Hi Greg, Thanks for the information. I really appreciate it. Would the air cleaner require any special type of heat resistant paint? Jonathan
  7. Obviously, those items are somewhat weathered on my car as well. That's why I was wondering what the original finish may have been. :-)
  8. . What is the correct shade (or code) for the black paint used on the 1960 Buick grill? Air cleaner? Hubcaps? High gloss? Gloss? Flat? Are different types used for each? Many thanks. .

  10. I found the web site with the pictures if anyone is interested. http://www.classicalgasstation.com/1691a.htm .
  11. Below is a link to this week's Autoweek article about the ten most memorable concept cars first seen at the Detroit Auto Show. How sad that the number one car is the Buick Bengal, and Buick scrapped it. I agree with AutoWeek!! http://www.autoweek.com/apps/pbcs.dll/ga...r=120001&Ref=PH .
  12. You probably saw JohnD1956's message on the 2006 Riviera thread. I was so interested in the topic that I decided to start this one. The fullsize picture of the Popular Hotrodding 2008 Buick GNX "concept" is below. You can read the article at the following link: http://www.popularhotrodding.com/features/0510phr_spread/
  13. Just in case anyone wanted more information from JohnD1956's post, he sent me the link to the Popular Hotrodding article. I have included the link and also attached the picture. http://www.popularhotrodding.com/features/0510phr_spread/
  14. Just what we wanted to hear: http://www.reuters.com/newsArticle.jhtml...storyID=7988554 DETROIT (Reuters) - General Motors Corp., which issued a shock profit warning last week and has been losing market share, may phase out one of its weaker car brands if sales fail to meet projections, company Vice Chairman Bob Lutz said on Wednesday. GM's Buick and Pontiac are both "damaged brands" due to lack of investment over the years, and GM is working to correct that with an array of new vehicles coming to market, Lutz told a Morgan Stanley automotive conference in New York. But if some of its brands fail to meet sales projections, "then we would have to take a look at a phase-out. I hope we don't have to do that. What we've got to do is keep the brands we've got." Financial analysts have said for years that the world's largest automaker has too many brands to support, even with the gradual phase-out of the Oldsmobile brand a few years ago, particularly with its weaker U.S. sales. Sales for both Pontiac and Buick have lagged in recent years. But GM is in the midst of a $3 billion investment in new vehicles for Buick and Pontiac showrooms, and they will have four new vehicles this year, including the Solstice roadster, Torrent SUV and the G6 mid-size coupe. GM, which last week cut its earnings outlook for 2005 by as much as 80 percent, posted a 6 percent drop in U.S. sales for the first two months of the year. GM's U.S. market share fell to about 25 percent, far below its share of 27.5 percent for all of 2004. Analysts said last week that GM's March sales could fall as much as 10 percent, while foreign automakers such as Toyota Motor Corp., Hyundai Motor Co. Ltd. and Nissan Motor Co. Ltd. would continue to gain U.S. market share. Lutz said GM will post relatively flat U.S. sales for March, however, performing much better than expected. "I think we're going to be just about even, our best guess at this point. Either a percent over or a percent under," he said. "It is a substantially better month than January or February, and it looks like the whole industry is up." 'A HUGE ALBATROSS' No details about an expected restructuring at GM, the largest private U.S. provider of health care benefits, have emerged since it roiled markets with its warning last week. But the company, which has about $300 billion in outstanding debt, said on Wednesday it was in talks to sell a stake in its GMAC Commercial Mortgage unit after potential investors expressed interest in the unit. And Lutz and Gary Cowger, GM's president for North America, spoke of possible demands for a cut in mounting health care benefits for the company's hourly union employees in remarks on the sidelines of the New York auto show on Wednesday. An elimination of any one of GM's brands would likely mean plant closings and a shrinking of GM's hourly work force. "An across-the-board competitive health care plan for salaried and hourly employees could literally save us billions," Cowger said. Health care costs, added Lutz, are "a huge albatross hanging over American industry today." Lutz particularly acknowledged the automaker, which will struggle to make a profit this year, faces challenges. But he said GM was "taking the necessary steps to right this ship" and told reporters at one point the threat of bankruptcy at GM was "absolutely out of the question -- totally out of the question." "Sure, we face short-term challenges, and this is not going to be a banner year," he told the Morgan Stanley conference. "It's a difficult period of adjustment. But we will get through it." He said some of GM's new cars, such as its Chevrolet Cobalt small car and Pontiac G6 mid-size car, will post their best sales to date in March, and told the Morgan Stanley conference "I don't know where all the gloom and doom is coming from." He quoted one car reviewer who said, referring to GM's troubles, that the quality of the Cobalt convinced him that "the Titanic may yet turn fast enough to miss the iceberg."

  19. Hi Greg, As you know, I have a 1960 pedal car that was made by Trimex in Mexico. Below is a link to a pedalcar collector's website that provides additional information. I have also collected quite a collection of photos of numerous makes/models of pedal cars manufactured by Trimex and other fiberglass pedal car manufacturers. http://www.roadkillontheweb.com/mex1.html After purchasing my pedal car 4 or so years ago, I went to look at one in Harrisonburg, VA, that was like the one you have purchased. The gentleman there said that it was originally used in an amusement park. He seemed to think that the hole in the back was actually where the metal pole went up to the electrical source as was/is common with bumper cars. In the approximately same area on my car there is the manufacturer's sticker stating Trimex, etc. The body size of your model is larger than the body size of the Trimex pedal car that I have. I will get exact measurements of mine so you can have a better perspective. Below are links to the pics from when I purchased mine. http://members.aol.com/jonosso/Buick_Pedal_Car/Buick1.jpg http://members.aol.com/jonosso/Buick_Pedal_Car/Buick2.jpg Jonathan
  20. This is your lucky day. Check out this auction on eBay for a NOS 1958 grill. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=4501682821&category=34204
  21. Steve, No offense, but from what I can see in the auction, there is hardly anything even salvageable. Someone could buy a running '60 LeSabre convertible in decent shape for just several thousand dollars more. I hope for your sake, I am totally wrong. 1960 Buick LeSabre eBay Auction Link
  22. Keith, Sorry for upsetting you. I had clearly stated that my post contained some facts, questions, and assumptions. I even apologized in advance for my assumptions. I have no knowledge of how extensively the National Pike Chapter has tried to infiltrate/include the Pittsburgh area; nor do I know whether you had worked with them in an attempt to do so. I just thought it would be great to build upon a foundation already in existence. Jonathan
  23. First of all, I must say that it is wonderful to see such enthusiasm and a desire for the Buick owners in the Pittsburgh area to have a strong BCA chapter or chapters. However, (I am certain to upset some with this.) why don?t all of the parties involved gather together to establish one cohesive chapter? Maybe it requires renaming of the National Pike Chapter? I don?t know. For those of you that are not familiar with the area, here are some facts: Pittsburgh is located in Allegheny County in Southwestern Pennsylvania. The National Pike name refers to US Highway 40 which runs through Washington County. Washington County is adjacent to the southern boundary of Allegheny County. The National Pike Chapter has its monthly meetings in Canonsburg which is in Washington County. The location is 20 miles from downtown Pittsburgh. The one post states that the chapter is chartered in Washington, PA. If so, the distance from downtown Pittsburgh is 30 miles. The proposed Pittsburgh chapter is holding its meeting/picnic at Moraine State Park which is located in Butler County. Butler County is adjacent to the northern boundary of Allegheny County. The location is 44 miles from downtown Pittsburgh. I assume that this new chapter is being chartered by Keith who lists his location as Butler, PA. If so, the distance from downtown Pittsburgh is 40 miles. Based on only the known and assumed information above, it would appear that the newly proposed chapter is no more positioning itself as a truly Pittsburgh-based chapter than the existing National Pike Chapter. (Neither has a solid foundation in Allegheny County, the home of Pittsburgh, PA.) Why not combine the energy and make it a regional chapter? I hope I have not offended anyone. I felt compelled to state how I feel as being a person in the geographical middle. (I live in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County.) NOTE: I realize it is unfair to make assumptions about the proposed chapter based only upon the initial activity and Keith?s residence. (Keith, I apologize.)
  24. Please take a look at the pics. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
  25. Okay.......Here it goes. Two years ago I purchased a [color:red] <span style="font-weight: bold"> <span style="font-style: italic"> Restored </span> </span> </font> bumper jack from Buick Farm that was supposed to be for a 1960 Buick. Well.....the base wasn't even correct. Today I just received an [color:red] <span style="font-weight: bold"> <span style="font-style: italic"> Unrestored </span> </span> </font> 1960 Buick bumper jack from Cars Inc. They told me that it was for a 1960 Buick, but when I looked at it, they had marked on it with a grease pencil that it is from a 1961 Buick. I called them, and they told me that their reference manual says that it works for both years. My Buick parts book lists two different numbers for the different years. All I want is to buy an original 1960 Buick bumper jack. Does someone have one for sell?? If nothing else, does someone have a picture of their '60 Buick bumper jack to send me? I just want to know what I should have.......and then go all out to get it. Thanks. Jonathan in Pittsburgh jonosso@aol.com
