  4. purchased barn find in july, spent 6 weeks cleaning up inside/outside, now need to look at mechanicals. not run since 1961, prev owner lost interest, think he only tried to turn over with starter. trying to figure best way to see if engine is free and go from there. recommendations? have been putting kroils in spark plug holes, started to take head off then stopped, removed nuts but did not take off. one suggestion was to put oil in rear shaft seal port using high pressure oil can, remove intake and put in marvel mystery oil, etc. not sure if i should remove fan/radiator (this appears to be a challenge) and try to remove to remove dampener but my manual says special tool required. looking for advice, do not want to mess this up. mechanically good on cars but new to v-12 of course. should i remove intake only and put in marvel and see what I see? how to try to turn engine? could be stuck, 6-volt starter may not do it, not sure if this is good/bad, again do not want to make mistake. joinde LZOC and my local and Chgo Early Ford v8 Clubs. really need experienced mentor for virtual or in-person support. very nice car, cleaned up like new penny, needs cleaning on bottom side and then of course engine work, carb, etc. looking for ideas on what to do first or in what order. thanks in advance. Bill, located near rockford, IL
  5. gene, i need to remove my radiator and located the 3 fan bolts. cannot loosen with wrench but can get 1/4-drive 1/2" socket on them but ratchet interferes with dampener shaft, any suggestions? how did you get yours out? does fan just come off after removal of 3 bolts? did you remove dampener as well? Trying to get access to crank, engine in storage for LONG time, pulling intake, heads to look at valves & pistons. would like to be able to turn. will have to remove all this to get engine out if needed. looks like real PITA. Any ideas suggestions greatly appreciated.
  6. need to replace one-piece flat windshield. can get windshield easily as flat glass. cannot find rubber seal, do not want to depend on old one. any experience with this? can old one be reused if careful when removing? got quote from local glass shop but they were very concerned about seal as none can be found... yet. Also, i can get all side glass, are these easy to replace? looks tricky for sure. anyone done this? driver back window cracked, all side glass laminated so would like to replace. thx.
  7. Bight a barn find, Sport Coupe, need to remove radiator to get boiled out, etc. Read in a forum that fan must come off first, three screws in back. see screws, can get 1/2" socket onto them, but cannot fit ratchet as interferes with dampener shaft. also read to be very careful with dampener. Questions: Any easy way to remove fan? How does one remove the radiator, i.e. what needs to be removed and where are the fasteners How to remove dampener. I need remove all and get to crank to see if i can turn engine over. Any and all advice greatly appreciated.
