  1. Fenders, running gear, etc. done and the tub will be painted this week. Starting to get excited about getting it all back together again. Went with a single stage enamel. My grandfathers 1961 paint job did not hold up well. Lots of rust under the paint, but no real damage.
  2. I am proud to say that I have owned 5 cars in my life and still own 4 of them. 82 VW Jetta (sold at 25 years with 350,000), 92 Dodge W250 LE (1st generation cummings). 96 VW Passat TDI variant, 98 VW Jetta TDI and a 1922 Chandler Royal Dispatch.
  3. Looks great! I bet your are getting excited. Me too, I just received the first parts back from the painter. And the assembly begins.
  4. Chris, when my motor was rebuilt they were able to find new valves that fit. I am not sure where from and the machine shop is closed I believe. New valves were 30$.
  5. It's the LEDs. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/blinded-light-american-headlight-safety-lags-years-countries-rcna82666 Blinded by the light: Cars in the U.S. still lack glare-reducing headlights Adaptive driving beams have been used in Europe since 2012. They are now available on vehicles sold in every major automotive market worldwide, except the U.S.
  6. Does this mean your chains were not the issue?
  7. Mine was like Eric's, smashed old rubber strip. I have temporarily used folded inner tube rubber but will probably use the same rubber you ordered.
  8. I am going to have some wiring questions for you soon. Namely how the metal clad headlight and generator cables are grounded. I also have a note about a ground near the spark and gas controls at the base of the steering column. I get a list together, I am rewiring and have a few lose ends. I think I am going to reuse all the wire connectors and lugs, all being soldered will be easy.
  9. I bet you are happy! Looks like great work.
  10. Looks great, good job Chris.
  11. https://www.vintagepartsource.com/ Its not a source in itself, but it contains links to all sorts of suppliers in many different categories. Who knows, you may get lucky and find that long sought after item. I ended up finding this site googling for parts. Thought I would toss it out there in case it is not well known. Lots of sources for body/trim and all of the other categories. https://www.vintagepartsource.com/bodytrim.htm
  12. My 22 Chandler was, and it was about $2,100 new. I have the originals. I'll get some pictures.
  13. Thank you, I give them a try and report back what I find.
  14. Painted patterned cardboard, no fabric. I am sure many cars had this over the interior doors, mines a 1922 Chandler Royal Dispatch. I guess I am going to repair the damaged ones with a modern cardboard back for stabilization. But would like to know if the material is available and what folks do when their door panels are shot.
