Nope they are all the same plus a 1935 is the same as a 1936 Olds fuel tank. Please feel few to ask me any tech or body questions you may have as I've owned 1935 Oldsmobiles for 53 years. In the past I have had as many as eight cars at one time or another; restored three and am currently rat rodding my last project into a truck all from spare parts. I've had both a 35/36 Olds fuel tank and 35/36 Pontiac tanks. There are a completely different in shape. Both have the filler neck on the right side but that is where the similarities end (at least that is the case for Canadian built models). A mid to late 30's Chev pickup reproduction tank is the closest in style to a 36/36 Olds tank but will need modification to the filler neck to fit. Sadly for originality you will need to source an original Olds tank as no one is making reproductions. I was offered a solid original tank from a hot rodder a year ago but passed it up as I am getting out of the hobby. If you like I can post a wanted ad in his location and see if he responds. Note: If found the tank is located in Central Ontario Canada.

Many, many years ago I had a rather beat up set of 1935 boards with the moulding strips. If I recall properly they were attached with bolts inset into the back of the strip (similar to the attachment of the hood vent grills) and holes were drilled into the board's steel.

The silver trim strip was a GM option and if I remember correctly it was only offered for the eight cylinder models. FYI: The eights have longer running boards. If you need new covers Lynne Steel offers replacement rubber for approximately $500.00 a pair.

I believe there are so few 1935 Oldsmobile cars remaining that it is not cost effective for anyone to reproduce the grill. GM's fat fender wooden bodied cars did not survive the elements well nor were they as collectable as a Ford or Packard of the same area. Here is a picture of an original 6 grill with a reproduction copy beside it to the right. It is hard to see the difference in the picture but the reproduction one is aluminum, the indent definition varies significantly and generally is just a poor casting . FYI: The original grill was sold last summer with a project car.

I am not the guy who said he had a grill shell; I believe that was "Auburncoupe" . If you can find an original 6 cylinder 1935 Oldsmobile grill for sale then I'd recommend you jump at the chance. Eight cylinder grills are more plentiful but still extremely rare as GM only offered the 8 styled grill as a replacement part after the initial model year. I do not have a grill for sale but as mentioned I've a broken one I will repair someday. It has been in the family since 1936 when my grandfather bought his 1935 Oldsmobile sedan. Other GM grills such as LaSalle and Buick models will not fit (36 Buick is close) also note a 36 Oldsmobile grill will not fit a 35. Expect to pay 1000 to 1500 for a good eight 35 Olds grill, more for an original six. Beware the reproduction six grills . They are of a very poor quality.

It is the rarest of all 1935 Oldsmobile grills. I hope you can find one. I have a broken one that is not for sale. I have all the pieces to make it whole again and may do so some day to put it in my coupe. Cheers, Bill

1935 Oldsmobile grills are now very rare and hard to repair. If you can find an original unbroken example expect to pay between $1,200 to 1,500 that will need new chrome. If you have a broken one all the pieces are available I've heard that Muggy Weld rod may solder the pieces but I personally have no tried it.. I 've got 3 or 4 broken ones that I will attempt a repair upon someday. There are a couple of things to note with respect to 1935 Olds 6 and 8 grills: 1) They are a different design 2) GM only sold 8 cylinder grills as replacements for both the 6 and 8 powered cars therefore an original 6 cylinder grill would have come from a donor car. There are/were shoddy non GM aftermarket reproduction 6 cylinder grills that were manufactured years ago. They are cheap cast aluminum, fit poorly and have poor indent definition in the bars. Everything must go as by late September I'm demolishing my storage barn. Conditions range from not bad to need a lot of love. No reasonable offer refused. I don't believe you have the correct carb and intake for a 1935 as it looks more like a 1936 to me. I have attached pictures of an original 1935 set up taken from the Service Manual. Note: The pictured automatic choke system was prone to failure. Most owners opted to use a manual pull choke wire from the dash. Bill

Thanks but I don't need anything for my cars. I have a 1935 Olds project car to sell off. It is the grey/green rusty old girl in the background. The body is tired but will be nearly a complete car after I gather together all the spare parts I have for or it. Mechanically it was redone a few years back. The previous owner never started the body shell. If anyone out there is interested please drop me a note.

To all the members who inquired last summer and fall about Pontiac parts to which I did not respond. I just want to offer my apologies for my tardiness. I was roughing it in Northern Canada without access to the internet and did not see your inquires until someone asked for parts on April 7. Sadly I have very little in the way of Pontiac parts remaining. A set of tired 4 door sedan doors and a rolling 6 cylinder frame with power train .... For 1935 Olds enthusiasts I do have a number of used mechanical parts. Everything is going to the crusher in Sept 2022. Message me if I can help and I'll try to respond in a reasonable period of time.

I have a very rough set of 35 four door sedan doors that sat in the weather for 35 to 40 years plus a rolling frame with 6 cylinder engine and transmission. That is about all I have left. Cheers, Bill
