  1. I used a 12 to 6volt regulator I found on eBay. I measured the radio current, and it was between 5 and 6 amp. I think they called it a buck transformer which was less than $20. Worked great.
  2. I would try a H.F. spark tester light and see if you are losing spark at higher revs. I had that problem last summer and found the spark was arcing through the roter to ground. It will also tell you if your ignition is breaking down.
  3. I Had the same problem with my 1932 Super 8 Packard Headlight switch. I was able to get the blueprints from the Packard proving grounds and made one, it took about 24 hours, but it works great.
  4. I made some from a 50 s ford truck which were wide enough to trim down, and the back had to be shrunk to match the housing. Looked like the real thing but took about 8 hours to do 2 rings.
  5. I was able to get piston rings for my Super 8 by giving Hastings rings the size of the bore and grove sizes. It worked great for the Super 8.
  6. The 110 and 120 use basically the same body The difference is from the cowl forward. No hurry I am just rebuilding the 282 ci engine right now. Thanks.
  7. Hi Shootey Thanks for your help. My private messaging doesn't work yet for this site . You could post them on this AACA site for other wood wagon restorer's reference. Thanks Dean
  8. Thanks Tom, I'll try to post some pictures when I am further along. It's a 120. I tried to PM Shooty but I haven't been on the form long enough for it to allow me private messages.
  9. I am restoring a really rough 1940 Packard wagon. Does anyone know if a Hercules or Cantrell parts lists for 1940 Packard were or are available. I was thinking it would help fill in some of the missing parts which I need yet to make. Thanks
  10. I was looking through my Packard parts book for the part number for the lower part of the wiper transmission on a 1936 standard 8 coupe. It's the part that's on the outside of the body with 2 screws that holds it to the body just above the windshield. Does anyone know what the part number is for this assembly? I couldn't locate it in my parts manual. (Probably not looking in the right spot) Does anyone know what Packard called the lower part of the wiper transmission. Thanks I got a picture of the part I can't find a part number of. I thought someone more familiar with the parts list could find it. Attach file: wiper transmission1.jpg (410.71 KB)
  11. 8.5 inches diameter at fender 7.25 diameter at front where bulb is seen 2.75 front to back at top 1.25 front to back at bottom All dimensions are inches Let me know if that doesn't make since, thanks
  12. I would like to buy a set of repairable headlight rings for a 1941 Packard 110. Dean Thanks
  13. I found a set. Thanks for the help. Dean
  14. Thanks, a set of 110 running boars might be easier to find.
  15. Members 4 I would like to buy: running boards for 1941 Packard 120 (127" wheelbase) in repairable condition. Thanks

  17. I do use chasing taps, but i think the hole is warn and may have internal rust pits. I was just trying to see if there is a more reliable method for checking threaded holes for unseen damage.
  18. I am looking for a good method to check taped threads in antique engine parts during an engine rebuild. Up to this point I would chase all the threads and to a test torque with a test spacer in place of the engine component before I do final assembly. It isn't always fool proof, and was trying to figure out if there is a better method to check if threads in an old engine block are good before I do final assembly? Thanks
  19. I was looking for a drawing or picture of the rear most top bow on a 1929 auburn boat tail speedster. Its the one which pulls out of the rear deck. I was interest in seeing how it is attached below the deck. Thanks
