Just got this car and working the bugs out one piece at a time. It is an alternator car. When I mean tac'ing I mean it instantly pins it as acting as a tac and will stay that way when driving until you come to a stop. The gauge is acting exactly as a tac. I have a re-manufactured 55 amp going on this weekend. Still waiting on the repair manual so nothing to go off for wiring to see if reversed at the alternator. If anyone could lend a hand there it would be appreciated.

What would cause a factory gauge to tac up and down with engine RPM? My 63 dodge when at idle will show dead even center at idle but any RPM increase will tac it in the D direction. Let off gas goes back to N.

How did the front doors rot out like that equally on both sides?

Well here is my problem. My extra crap is either building materials and lumber or antique brewery and beer crap. Both of which I have accumulated well over a metric shit ton of. So much crap I had to build a full size bar off the house to house all the crap. Never really accumulated old car crap and what I had "vanished" at one of Dads fire sales when I was deployed oversea's and he needed more room for his crap. I don't think life is really lived till someone comes over and says "Man you really have quite a pile of crap there, what do you plan to do with all that crap?" Of course they then offer you some of their crap to add to your pile of crap because the crap is just to good to throw away like their wife wants them too and if you tossed it, the next week you really find out you needed that one crappy item that was in the middle of that shit ton of crap. Or is it in the other pile of crap ?

One of the weekend projects is getting a mechanical gauge in the car. My manual should be here today so been blind. Going to also look at whats going on behind the heater/AC buttons that seemed locked up and don't do anything. Found the vac lead that goes in there and need to plug that off for the time being. See if that is causing a rough low idle from a vac leak. New radiator. Have the parts needed to swap out to a dual master as well. Goal is to make this a 3-4 day a week driver to work.

Look good to me. What is the asking $ ? They will get the car through a safety inspection.

Best place to put a mechanical temp sender probe in a 361? Only had the car a week and am going over it and cannot find any plug to take out and insert the probe for a mechanical temp gauge. Can't even find where the factory one is. Closest I can find is a thin purple wire disappearing under the AC compressor. No plug in the water pump I can see.

I am finding this out. Can't wait to dig into the push button heat and AC controls and see what awaits there.

It is 14 inches from post connection to blade assembly pivot with that little crook at the blade end. The dog is slightly broken as well but provided good contrast back ground. Finding one with the exposed attaching nut seems to be a tall order. Picked up this "run around" dodge 880 cheap and just working through making it safety inspection ready.

Thought finding a classic ANCO wiper arm would be easy to locate but nope. Can't find a part number on it. Came off a 1963 Dodge 880 custom. It is 14 inches from post to end with blade holder assembly attached as one part. Has a crook the last inch of the arm. Polished nickle. Where it attaches to the post is an expose nut that screws onto the post. My attachment "gear" within the arm is cracked in 3 places and will not mate up to the post. Any idea where to get one?

A little break outside Fort Worth yesterday but we had off and on rain. 92 I think. Now today back to a 100 + but with the humidity. Looking like a nice downward slide into Labor day coming with maybe a couple days in the 80s. But rain chances all week and so humid the car even sweats. So I have taken each car out for a short 30 mile run this morning. Tomorrow? ughh heat and humidity with indexes in the 110-113 range. But we can see the end of it at least !

The Franklin 151 has not shipped it yet. One delay after the other in getting the new garage stood up. The one time I sub out any work on my property and not do it myself (including my house) it doesn't get done. Might be another two weeks before it gets here. The old Dodge 880 I found should be here this coming weekend. Little rain on that is no big deal. I can cover it. Worst case is my 81 Z28 gets parked on the slab under a cover until metal building folks show up. I figure that is the most water tight. But we are getting real close to hail time here. I can get one of those temp garages too perhaps.

I enjoy watching this guy on youtube as he has an every day approach to driver cars on a budget and is in it for the fun. Very entertaining. He just posted this show about his walk through of a yard in SD he used to work at with cars for sale. Lots of Buicks. Good mix of 70's through 40's. Parts car deals.

Been building my wood shop tool inventory up for the past 15 years and tackling bigger projects as that hobby interest grows. But I am not to the point yet of tackling this project. One day. What is the best way to remove the body panels? Is this built on top of a steel frame?

Thanks for sharing. I didn't know any of that either. I have basically just known for all my years that "Edsel" was always associated with "Failure" or Junk. Not that was a correct rap to hang on it but that is where pop culture has embraced it. The name is about as popular as a brick as well. Would you rather buy a Sport Fury or an Edsel.

I offer 3 tea bags, a thermometer, 5 balls of yarn, and 19 used Q-tips in trade.

Never understood what caused the Edsel to fail while bug eye yachts in the Chrysler camp never got as much scrutiny. It must be a time frame issue. What was it the public saw in disgust that made the edsel fail? The name?

I flew around the world for a month with a carry-on. No idea how women need 3 suitcases for a week.

I am thinking the dog days of summer have set in. Folks looking forward to Labor Day. I know here in Texas it above normal dog days with high humidity and high heat. 100+ who wants to do anything at the end of the day when the garage is that hot?

Strange is a nice way to put it. There is a big difference between paying homage to fallen soldiers and using them as a backdrop in a sales pitch. Disrespectful
