I would call this a bargain. 1950's America personified was cars like this and why i am attracted to the "everyday working mans" car.

Love 4 doors because they are cheap. (yes come over to the dark side) I just found this local for 1800 bucks. some rust in the back rockers and above rear wheel but super solid floors and trunk AND spare tire well. Will make a good parts chaser to go with the other two dodge parts chasers I have. I need to stop looking at the local ads. But hard to turn down a survivor with 65K miles that runs and drives like a 65K miles used car of today. Folks lived on a gravel road so imagine the stone bruises. Rock flaps must have been a factory option. ha I will pass this on to my nephew in a few years hopefully.

outstanding ! and to think that some of the dems running for president want everyone of these cars off the road and scrapped by 2040. I didn't go anywhere in the Buick this weekend. Spent both days working out the bugs in the 46 Dodge after a new clutch, throw out bearing and sleeve, new (French lake) trans, front wheel cylinders, lines and shoes. My 93 year old Uncle is due in town this week and he owned one. Am sure he will do plenty of driving in the 49 Buick as well to make up for the weekend off.

I moved a 248 ci Buick from one end of the garage to the other while making engine type noises. Hope that counts?
I prepared to move my roadmaster from the down the hill garage to the new upper garage. Here is the floor for the old girl after acid staining and before sealing. Pic 2 is after washing down and neutralizing the acid and is a truer color. Should hide every drip me thinks. The colors will become much more brighter after 2 coats of sealer.

Glad to see they treated you with the respect a classic deserves and even doubly so for the time and effort your wife put in to make things happen. PFfffftttt
Invite Buick folks and show them how it's done me thinks. Seeing 78 jeeps just painted different colors makes me tingle inside like a case bubonic plague

Growing up in NY and now living in TX I miss the fall most in upstate NY. Thanks for sharing. Still in the 90's here.

Have a 63 Dodge and looking at the relay, which 2 terminals would I attach my engine bump switch too? The bigger post lead and the green heading to starter correct ?

Couple pretty good ones that need sorted out on the Franklin club classifieds right now.

Watch out if the Franklin siren starts singing her song like she did for me !

Something looks a wee bit funny on the drivers front

I see they come in different sizes and am curious if anyone knows of the correct size for early 60's mopars?

And lets not forget the grand tales you get to tell of the greatness of that charger you own. (Best to use any recollection of the Bullit chase scene as your own) The magic of speed of light it can go and how that 440 HP motor is basically the same one that took Neil Armstrong to the moon. Of course when asked of it's whereabouts it shall always been in the process of a full frame off restoration (Well the frame did rust off the body) and so close to getting prepped for paint. BUT JUST YOU WAIT as a couple of years from THIS very day nothing will be able to hold a candle too it. tic tic tic (1 year later) What happened to the charger ? OH this big shot collector found out I had it with the Neil Armstrong moon package with double power windows and that super rare Cape Canaveral launch trac pack and offered me so much money I could not turn him down is what happened. But you should see this Cuda' I just picked up as a project ! (Insert every Cuda is a Hemi Siren song here )

Acid concrete stain and 3 coats of sealer. Love the marbling look. Just be sure to roll stuff around the floor and not drag it. But being the acid transforms the minerals in the concrete and stains them, a roller with sealer fixes up the scratch. If it is a deep gouge that gets 1/2 inch deep just hit with a little stain and seal. Acid staining for me is the way to go. And the colors are endless. No two floors will come out the same due to the differences in mineral content. An 850 sq ft garage will cost you less then 400 bucks to get this result doing yourself over a weekend

Anything 68-69 charger has a cult following that makes them forget it is just a car. Just to own a rusted out project that the slightest breeze makes rust chunks fall off a car that will never be restored or made road worthy gains you entry into the church of charger to worship at that alter. At any car show around here you hear mention "charger project" and it is like the Mopar siren is calling all within 5 miles onto the rocks of destruction. It will be bought regardless of condition and cost just so it can be moved from one grown over patch of mud to THEIR grown over patch of mud. The Siren song will then repeat a few years later.

Curious. On a car of this age how much maintenance is needed say after a 500 mile trek ? I am both in awe and very much inspired by reading about your exploits and miles driven in 100 year old cars

Rightly so. But that wood rot looks like something that has been pulled from underwater. A braver man then I to take on such a project. I would like to see a couple pictures of it before it sat under the collapsed roof.
-
I too am extremely interested it what your doing. Can't believe this was a fully restored car back in 70's. Sad, Lighting it on fire in a controlled burn would ease the disassembly.

They also list a tie and pitman puller. Would that not be better then beating on stuff? Never done tie rods before.
-
Best tools needed to change out tie rod ends and idler arm bushing on 1963 Dodge 880. In the near future going to do new center link, tie rods (inner and outer) and idler arm bushing. What might I need in my tool inventory ?

Keiser31 I am pretty sure this pan will fit as it looks like this one. I have the power steering pump out so can't crawl under the car but it does look like this one minus the sump baffle and yours has the kick up on the side.. This is one they have posted on ebay as being 63 and 64 Dodge 880

I hear this car is disassembled and in bags and parts and pieces and would like to see a picture of it's true condition in that regard.
