  1. NEED TO FIND SHOCK BAR BUSHINGS. the bushing that goes on top and bottom from shock to leaf spring. any leads, or are these basic sway bar bushings?
  2. ok fellas, so last night I made some good progress on the rear end. got it back underneath the car and mounted to the leaf springs. looks great, all hardware has been painted black and mounted very nice.
  3. yes sir it does. I miss the younger me. I do automotive detailing and I can feel it now after a long day of detailing. father time is undefeated.
  4. yep, currently 37 years old and kind of BUFF. HAHa I was pleasantly surprised I could lift it on my own. the engine, not so much tho.
  5. regarding shims: that is literally the best way to describe it. I was worried about it, but when the shop said "Run It" I felt better about it. its a pretty light axle built very well. I can lift the whole axle my self in and out of the truck so it makes moving it easy.
  6. got the floor board stripped and painted. check this out. sexy now. just need to decide if I am going to put the board on the bottom for heat or if I am going to line it with something different. either way, until then, here is a picture of the floor board.
  7. this is the rear leaf spring, they have covers over them on each side, I have stripped them down with a wire wheel and painted them Gloss black. more pictures coming soon of my rebuild.
  8. updated items that have been cleaned, decreased, and painted with 500 degree black paint.
  9. funny you asked me this, same thing was brought up to me by someone else in another forum on FB. There were no shim's behind the backing plates on my axle, I brought this up to Oceanside Drive line who rebuilt the rear end (and will be building the drive line), and they said, its all good and to run it. so I have been restoring all the parts on the car, painting them black, and will have the rear end back in the car this week. Then I will be removing the engine for rebuild.
  10. update: 7-8-19 got rear axle backing plates stripped, primed, and painted with 500 degree paint. had to cut my own gasket's for the axle end's. still need to put brakes back on and get it all mounted to axle.
  11. got the floor board of the 33 dodge stripped and painted. I need to find the board that goes on the engine side of the floor board. any info on that would help.
  12. I found this vehicle in December 2017 and got it home on christmas eve. I have done a ton of work getting this car back to perfect. it was put back on the road in April of 2018 for the 1st show (Good Guys Rod and Custom show @ Del Mar) and parked again in the beginning of 2019 due to some slipping in drive train that was thought to be the transmission but was the rear end slip yoke with a worn tooth. at this point I have taken out the original 3 speed transmission and purchased a George Asche made 3 speed transmission with an overdrive unit and just had the rear end rebuilt by Oceanside Drive line which cost me $1000. next step is to remove the engine, It leaks and if the transmission and rear end are both fresh, it makes sense to rebuild the engine. plans there consist of .60 bore, mill head, grind both crank and cam, add dual carb intake and headers. with that all done, this car should be good to go and I can find my next project, a hot rod since this 33 should not be heavily modified.
  13. man, Wish I was close enough to come help you with the project. I feel your pain with the knee problems. I am 37 and have had both knee's pop out a couple times each. get better and do what you can to keep busy man. good luck.
  14. update: https://www.oldmoparts.com/ did not process my credit card when I placed my order for some reason. they said they process when material is about to ship (dumb) so I am waiting to find out when parts will be shipped so I can pay them. I found out my rear end is geared with 4:37 gear ratio. I am hopeful that will work well with my new overdrive transmission from George Asche. I am not 100% sure my shifter will work with the shift links that came with new transmission, but that will get worked out when I get the transmission back in the car in a few months.
  15. ACTUALLY FOUND IT FROM WWW.OLDMOPARTS.COM these guys have saved me so many times. I just drop $500+ on all parts needed for rear end.
  16. I NEED A NEW YOKE, aparently the old seal went bad and it wore out the yoke. does anyone know where I can get a stock yoke for a 1933 DODGE DP6? or is this something I should just look into getting a new updated rear end that will work for my car.???
  17. i just dropped off the Axle this AM. The whole unit spins well, but leaks quite a bit. Oceanside Drive line has it here in San Diego. I figure I will let them tell me what is needed from a professional standpoint. some things I can get into and repair but on something as rare as this Dodge, its best to let the old time wisdom take the lead.
