I always thought it was the ozone that wrecked the rubber. I remember a 6th grade science experiment where we took an old pair of Mom's panty hose and put them over a bent up coat hanger in the back yard. In about 2 or 3 weeks they fell apart. I supposed the UV could have been a big part of that as well. I'd run the experiment again now, to see if all the clean air regulations have made a difference, but I don't think the required materials are readily available anymore! I do believe (based on my old Nordic skin) there is more UV now.

  2. I know...  "Neoclassic" cars like the Clenet make me think of Liberace, but I have to admit the very first Excaliburs (like this), have some appeal. (more pics in ad)

  3. I don't know about the price given the "custom work" but these definitely have a following, and are reportedly a lot of fun to drive. (more pics in ad)

1972 Honda Z600 restored oem with custom color and interior. Runs great with very low miles, under 1000 miles on this rebuild. Please come and view with your own eyes and listen to it run then take it for a drive. Please do your homework on this car and have a look at what they are selling for and what prices are for parts if you can find them. Complete list of items done on car. Basically, everything has been done. Interested parties only reply please. I don’t need help selling and I’m not in a hurry to sell. Weekend driver mostly.
Please send any questions and I’ll get back to you asap.
Please don’t send low ball offers as they will be deleted. For those that want a VIDEO of car, please reach out.
Very rare car and these cars will be harder to find. I might consider trade for equal value or something interesting but no motorcycles. Thanks for looking. $18000

In sunny parts of the country, some people put covers over tires on cars parked outside to keep the UV from prematurely rotting the tires. It does help quite a bit IF the covers aren't too thin or near clear.

  5. No interior or engine pics

I've had this car for about 10 years, with the intention of restoring it but unfortunately too busy with work that I can't keep holding on to it. The car has a clean tittle, it has all original parts and motor but it does not run. It does need interior and a paint job. This car is a project car. Please only serious inquiries. Thank you! (818) 510-2832

Lighting in the pictures is awful! Can't see enough details. I suspect it may be earlier than 1928 even. Being a truck it may have features of earlier model cars, allowing for the radiator and shell style, as well as the drum headlamps. Long running boards were not typical on most trucks that era. Although Chevrolet in 1929 on a six cylinder truck with the "express" pickup bed did have long running boards.

This truck might be as late as 1928, or possibly as early as 1925?

Oh Yes...drum headlights. I think your guess of '25 is probably good. I hope who ever bought it brings in back to life in some way. the good news from our point of view is there isn't enough there to "hot rod".

  7. If the engine is free this might be something....(more pics and text in ad)

Came from original owner in lifetime was owned by one family very well kept. Car is 99% solid no rust was parked inside the garage over 30 years there is no penalties on this car clean frame clean title clean VIN.  It has all the original rims with the clips and it has all the interior pieces and it has all the knobs and switches on the dashboard even for the radio including the original steering wheel this is a matching numbers car with the original engine and transmission and it's a bull because the rear windows roll down.

  8. I've never seen this double spring front suspension before and I'm not at all sure it would be a performance advantage.

Also those blocked out faces remind me of my mother's "True Detective" magazines from the 50's where black bars often appeared across the faces of people supposedly doing evil deeds!

    https://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/cto/d/moraga-1915-ford-model-speedster/7732543033.html

This 1915 original Speedster is a true testament that car enthusiasts are always trying to figure out how to make cars go faster - even over 100 years ago. During the early era of Ford Model T’s, racers would lighten their cars by stripping everything but the seats off the car, add a circular windshield, and attempt to stiffen the suspension. This car has all that and more including extra parts. Runs well (for a 109 year old car) and creates smiles and waves wherever it is driven.

I am happy to start and drive the car for serious buyers with cash but there will be no “test drives” as these cars have very different controls than modern day cars. (same rule applied when I bought it).

Hard to assign a price to the car - in my mind it’s priceless - only selling because I bought another antique race car and have no more room.

Happy to take offers higher or lower depending on interest and won’t work with anyone looking for lowball deals.

  9. from the Pre-War car website: (pretty nice shop clothes!...and how many jack stands are there? )

We're inside Malcolm Campbell’s workshop in Surrey in 1928, with the man himself proudly leaning on the workbench in full knickerbocker glory. Campbell was London’s Bugatti concessionaire, so he must have driven quite a few examples of France’s finest in England. Is this the 1926 Type 35 he is said to have owned privately?

The dealership labor rates from what I have heard are about $180.00/hour here in the Detroit area which are probably representative of any large metro area.

I'm an hour North of San Francisco in a farm town where the tallest building is a grain elevator. The local Chevy dealer gets $220 an hour and a grand daughter is working at In-n- Out Burger. She gets $22.50/hr.

  12. Appears to be a 4 cylinder so probably a '28, but I know there was a larger version of the 4 cylinder motor so perhaps it remained in production for commercial use in '29. Anybody know?

I wouldn’t say the paint scheme ALWAYS looks bad. It’s unique for sure. Without the definite paint stop after the trim it looks odd but I’ve seen much worse ideas. What I do find concerning is that it claims the original engine is in it and one of the pictures shows the Cadillac blue engine. However another picture of it shows an engine in Chevy small block orange..

Ha! Good catch...you can't pull a fast one on this forum!

  14. Looks like it's still (or maybe again) for sale....looks pretty good but no info about mechanical condition!
