No price given but they mention recent receipts, so may or may not be aware of typical market values. It does sound like a nice "driver", and your wife will enjoy Pacific Grove!

Rare 1940 Chrysler Windsor 4 door sedan. Factory suicide doors in the rear. Runs and drives well. New Green and teal hounds tooth Interior, new wiring to 12v, very clean and reliable for its age. We have Too many cars. It has an older restoration. Original 3 on the tree , Flathead 6 runs strong and pulls hard up hills. Just had $7600 in mechanical (receipts) work done to get her squared away.
Great pre-war car. Reasonable offers considered. Best offer taken. More pics soon. email: 8c5dbe83c54a3fd99e9149df7d926dd5@sale.craigslist.org- 1

These were not uncommon throughout my high school years in the SF Bay Area where the weather was mild, and anyone who wanted to go fast had plenty of options and reasons to avoid Opels and their ilk. These were type of cars that the nerd's nerdy sister drove.
Exactly so! Back then, I always wanted to make a few modifications and turn one into a tri-5 Chevy someone had used the wrong dryer cycle on.

Serious looking rear axel! They used a 30hp Continental engine so at least that part isn't too exotic.

Many more pics and history (but not about this car) in ad...
https://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/ctd/d/sacramento-1930-rolls-royce-phantom-ii/7734347673.html
This particular Phantom II is in running condition and was just serviced. All systems are fully functional on this vehicle. The Rolls starts up cold with no issues and makes great power. The Braking system works fantastically as well. This chassis was originally a 2 door Continental version of the PII but was rebodied with this Sedanca body in the 1970’s in England. The body is a Paris Henry Binder body. This is a great candidate for a full restoration or can be enjoyed regularly as is. Please Call, Text, Or Email with Inquiries: (916) 761-0081

You know, I had to think about this…but I’ll call out the great Phil Hill on that one. Think about it for a minute. In his example, the driveshaft is locked by the brake, and one wheel is locked by sliding in the gutter. How does the other wheel rotate freely? On an open differential, one of the 3 elements can be locked, and the other two can rotate. But if two elements are locked, the third cannot rotate. You can prove this yourself by jacking up just one rear tire, and leaving the car in park. You will not be able to rotate the wheel that is off the ground. (But you can if you take the car out of park, or lift the other wheel.)
To give Phil some credit, the tire in the gutter COULD have started rotating backwards at the same speed the other tire was moving forward, but not locked.
I thought about this after you wrote it and it seemed correct...yesterday I had an opportunity to test it in the garage and yes, I think that's what happened. It's been about 6 decades since I studied this stuff so I had to look up friction verses velocity and the book says friction is not dependent on velocity, so a wheel spinning backwards would theoretically provide no more drag than one that was locked and sliding. I think I read somewhere that steam locomotives would go to reverse in an emergency stop to avoid wearing a flat spot on the driving wheels. I didn't make them stop faster.

I would suggest finding a professional restorer of porcelain and glass in your area. They are around, and they have the skill and products to do it in a way that will be virtually invisible.

It would be great to see the route and dates!
I've gone to a stop on Hemmings Great Race a couple of times as a spectator...it's fun to see the cars and talk to the participants.

I don't think this is a stock color but we've sure seem worse!

I guess that you could call these the "Uber Gazelle!"
In a way, this might be what later kit Mercedes were trying to copy. These were the work of Brooks Stevens, and the prototype was Studebaker based. I think one reason I like them is they make me think of Briggs Cunningham's Bu-Merc!

couple of photos...Looks like a fun car but I wonder about support for these early Buicks

I always thought it was the ozone that wrecked the rubber. I remember a 6th grade science experiment where we took an old pair of Mom's panty hose and put them over a bent up coat hanger in the back yard. In about 2 or 3 weeks they fell apart. I supposed the UV could have been a big part of that as well. I'd run the experiment again now, to see if all the clean air regulations have made a difference, but I don't think the required materials are readily available anymore! I do believe (based on my old Nordic skin) there is more UV now.

I always wonder about cars that are for sale for years. Obviously, it's a wrong price, but do they actually want to sell? Doesn't seem so.
If that's the case, why bother?

I know... "Neoclassic" cars like the Clenet make me think of Liberace, but I have to admit the very first Excaliburs (like this), have some appeal. (more pics in ad)

I don't know about the price given the "custom work" but these definitely have a following, and are reportedly a lot of fun to drive. (more pics in ad)
https://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/cto/d/santa-rosa-1972-honda-z600-coupe-rare/7732988038.html
1972 Honda Z600 restored oem with custom color and interior. Runs great with very low miles, under 1000 miles on this rebuild. Please come and view with your own eyes and listen to it run then take it for a drive. Please do your homework on this car and have a look at what they are selling for and what prices are for parts if you can find them. Complete list of items done on car. Basically, everything has been done. Interested parties only reply please. I don’t need help selling and I’m not in a hurry to sell. Weekend driver mostly.
Please send any questions and I’ll get back to you asap.
Please don’t send low ball offers as they will be deleted. For those that want a VIDEO of car, please reach out.
Very rare car and these cars will be harder to find. I might consider trade for equal value or something interesting but no motorcycles. Thanks for looking. $18000 -
The best of all circa 50s pick ups in my opinion. Seems like a very good deal if as represented.

In sunny parts of the country, some people put covers over tires on cars parked outside to keep the UV from prematurely rotting the tires. It does help quite a bit IF the covers aren't too thin or near clear.

I've had this car for about 10 years, with the intention of restoring it but unfortunately too busy with work that I can't keep holding on to it. The car has a clean tittle, it has all original parts and motor but it does not run. It does need interior and a paint job. This car is a project car. Please only serious inquiries. Thank you!
