  1. I would be interested. My case has a crack that worries me.
  2. Do you have a distributor? Tinindian, would the 27/28 be the same as the 30?
  3. Got my frame cleaned up and was getting ready to prime when I noticed some oil around the nuts on the outside of the frame. Does the pitman shaft have any kind of seal? Are there other items (other than adjustment) that I should look at? Hopefully there is a photo attached.
  4. Not sure what I'll do about the coil yet. Guess I have a little time to think about it. Good to know I don't have to go searching for another spring.
  5. Thanks for the good advice. Your experience is much more helpful than the service manual.
  6. Two questions: My car has a regular 6 volt coil just kind of hanging by its wires under the dash. Was this the type of coil used originally and if so, where was it mounted? #2: I've attached a photo of a spring that is attached to the brake countershaft. I doubt the design is what Pontiac had in mind in 1930. Is the spring correct? Where should it be attached? Thanks in advance guys, we're moving along on the project thanks to you.
  7. Got it out. Put a vise grip on below the main housing and that along with the penetrant broke it loose. Thanks guys.
  8. Yup, know about the bolt. I've made a dam around the base and have it soaking in both PB Blaster and my favorite, acetone and ATF. Guess I'll just keep at it. No movement at all yet.
  9. My split head runs fine but working front to back cleaning off decades of dirt and grease. Pulled the engine and transmission. Tried to remove the distributor but can't get it to budge in any direction. What am I missing? I have a service manual.
  10. Thanks for the info. Always good to know. I think we have a local solution. I'll post photos if it works out.
  11. That's as good a guess as any. Not sure it worked.
  12. The photo shows a couple of cuts and bends made to the front cross member of my '30 (front motor mounts attached). Not a problem just wondering if anyone can think of a reason for it.
  13. Did a compression check on my '30 yesterday. Engine has been sitting for at least a month and wasn't warmed up (couldn't). Came up with readings from low 60's to 70. Seemed pretty good to me? Couldn't find anything in the service manual to guide me. Engine runs very well.
  14. Sounds great but what can you tell me about the spring that is around the conduit? It appears that the spring and conduit are both broken off inside the end that attaches to the backing plate. Was the spring just to give more stability to the unit? On my good unit (just working on the front end of the car at this point) it appears that there is tension on the spring. There's a good chance I haven't explained this very well. I can get more photos if needed. I'll take you up on the PM.
  15. I'm in need of either a way to repair my existing cable housing (my nomenclature) or a source for a replacement. Any and all help is definitely appreciated. It doesn't appear that the design was shared with any other GM products.
