  1. Sandy, it is a stunning car and I would love to take a picture of it next to my 32 67 at Danvers if you are bringing it. After 3.5 years of restoration on the 32 I know how it feels to drive it the first time too. Congrats, have fun and drive safe. Chuck Nixon
  2. Wow, thanks for all the input folks I will now sit down with my trusty Rand McNally maps and plot these routes to understand them better, then get back to Google Maps and plot them digital. I am pulling a Pace 24' enclosed trailer with the 32 Buick in it with a Ford Super Duty F 250 diesel. I have driven this rig to North Carolina twice, Colorado Springs BCA Nationals in 2009 and Iowa BCA Nationals in 2010. Only hills/mountain climbs I can remember was the route to Colorado Springs but made it up and over the pass at the Colorado border OK. I do know I-40 well as I used to go to Nashville in early June every year for 9 years with an open trailer towing my Chevelle to a national show. I have had several close calls with 18 wheelers so I don't relish going that way with the Buick rig. I do know the I-84 route from South Hartford to Boston as the Buick was found south of Hartford and restored in Forestville, CT. I have made the trip back and forth to Boston during the 3.5 years of restoration as my son lives in Boston and when I would visit the family I would make the 2.5 hour drive to Forestville south of Hartford. Again, thanks for the input and Pete I may give you a call to clarify some details on the route you took to get back to North Texas. Chuck
  3. I will be towing my 32 Buick in my enclosed trailer from Fort Worth, Tx to Danvers for the BCA Meet. I have looked at Mapquest, Google Maps, etc and it appears I have two choices when I leave Nashville. Option #1 - I go North through Bowling Green, Lexington, Hunnington, Charleston, Morgantown, Hagerstown and then on through Pennsylvania and eventually connect with I-95 around Newark and it is pretty straightforward from there to Boston or- Option #2- I stay on I-40 and then take I-81 through the Great Smokey Mountains etc. The less mountains the better towing the load I will have so I assume Option #1 is the better choice. Comments? Thanks in advance, Chuck Nixon
  4. Anyone out there have a nice set of front bumper guards for my 73 Riviera. Thanks Chuck
  5. My buckle has broken in my 73 Riviera and I wonder if anyone out there has a black drivers side belt and good buckle that bolts to the transmission hump. Thanks in advance for any referrals Chuck

  7. Hi Joe, just sent you a PM on your earlier PM to me. Now that I see the photo of the ASTOR 73 Riv GS and would love to have both exterior and interior photos. Thanks, Chuck Nixon
  8. Just bought a 73 Riviera and it needs some of the exterior stainless pieces replaced. Some of the ones on the car are beyond rehab with holes in them or bent and dented as they are barely 1/2" by 1/4". Need interior parts too, starting with the radio if you have one that is working. Also need a dash pad as mine is cracked. Front seat belt quick working also. I am going to an obsolete Buick salvage yard sometime in the next two weeks. Thanks Chuck
  9. Thanks Brian, I joined the Boat tail group Chuck
  10. Rob , I was not driving the 65 GS for a number of reasons and it continued to escalate in value so I wanted to see someone else enjoy it. I have other cars I play with and really wanted a "driver" we could jump in and go to events, meetings, etc. and not worry about rain, rock chips, etc. and the 73 fulfills that need. I will improve it some but it will not be a full blown restoration. 11. No wonder I couldn't find it as I was looking on the drivers side where they usually are or inside the drivers side door post. I wll look tomorrow. Thanks, Chuck
  12. OK, now that I have a 73 Riv I have been looking for the body tag that gives all the info about where built, when, color, etc. and can't find it. Where were they located on 73 Rivieras or were they? I think it would have been a little early to go to the printed label in the glove compartment like the modern cars do now. Thanks Chuck
  13. Thanks guys, I am a member of the ROA and I have found the site to be valuable in my search over the past few days. Turns out there are at least 3 Buick used parts yards in the country and one that specializes in NOS parts. I have contacted them all and I need to develop a list of parts I need and let them check stock. Turns out there is an obsolete Buick parts yard in Rockwall, TX, 65 miles from me so I will wander over there with the car and see what I can find that looks better than what is on the car. Chuck
  14. Well it has been a while since I have visited the forum and posted but I will be here more often as I just sold my 65 Riviera GS and purchased a 73 Riviera driver. I will need advice and sources for parts, especially the interior. Car was in California all its life and the heat and sun have dried out the plastic parts including the dash that is split. I have been doing internet research and have run across 4-5 sites that specialize in Buick parts so I am make a list of what I need and will get busy locating the parts. Right now it is a 20 footer but hope to improve on that. Any and all advice welcome. My 32 67S sits in the heated garage awaiting better weather to show up here in Texas.<!-- google_ad_section_end --> <FIELDSET class=fieldset><LEGEND>Attached Thumbnails</LEGEND> </FIELDSET>

  17. Hi from Fort Worth, TX. The 65 GS referred to above was mine that I bought out of Belgium 4 years ago and brought back to the U.S. Just sold it Tuesday this past week to a New Jersey buyer who is going to continue the restoration. Also sold him a correct dated 425 LX engine I had purchased to put in the GS since it came to me with a 401. Car was painted black by Art in Arizona in late 90's and he remembers the car coming from Southern California and a genuine GS. Has correct Trans, rear end, dual 4 bbl set up. Have bought a 73 Riviera to replace it and have a nice Driver. Chuck Nixon
  18. I also posted this in the AACA General Forum sectlion The Pate Museum collection of approximately 40 cars was auctioned yesterday by RM Auctions. You can see the cars at the RM website www.rmauctions.com . There is not list of sales on the RM site but the local paper here reported $1.9 million per RM. There were 12 cars other cars also sold at no reserve, 4 from a Texas collection and 8 from a California collection. Overall the prices were strong including $10,500 for a 1924 "T", $17,500 for a Model A Coupe (a bit strong for the car, most thought it was worth 12K at best) Some very nice 50's and 60's cars including the Checker cab that carried Harvey Oswald after he left the School Book depository in Dallas following tghe shooting of Kennedy. It sold for $35,750. Top Sellers: 1935 Aston Martin MKII Tourer $ 187,000 1934 Pierce Arrow Silver Arrow V-12 $ 139,700 (1987 AACA National Award) 1967 Shelby GT500 Fastbacl $ 99,000 1903 Cadillac Model A Runabout $ 99,000 1929 Rolls Royce Phantom II Boatail $ 85,250 (Tourer) Lots of other nice cars and I was fascinated by a 1941 Mercury 4 door with 13,000 original miles, belong to a 94 little old lady in California. Beautiful condition and sold for $20,000 plus 10% buyers premium There were some nice Packards and a Cadillac from the early 30"s. Nice thing about these cars is most of them were sitting in the museum for the past 30-40 years and other than dusty and dead batteries most were in great shape for driving or restoration. Chuck

Also may need parts for the Posi rearend as the clutches are sticking when turning the corner and could a reference on rear end rebuilds. Thanks in advance, any help greatly appreciated.
