  1. How does one set the choke? I heard it might be, 1) before turning on the key press the gas pedal to the floor then let go 2) Turn key on 3) press the gas pedal just enough to engage the starter 4) when it start press gas pedal to release choke Is this true?
  2. It only happens when it has been off for a long period of time. (overnight)
  3. Hello everyone, So my title might be a little deceiving, I know how to start a Buick... press the gas peddle down to engage the starter. But what I am having issues with, is that it will not start without me pouring some gasoline down the carburetor in order for the engine to fire. Is there a way to get fuel into the carb, or to choke it before I engage the starter? (without opening the hood, and pouring gas down the carb) It is a 1957 Buick Century. Thanks! Jason
  4. That is it! It has been bugging me for awhile... Thanks Pete!

  6. Hello, My name is Jason, my wife and I have just acquired a 1957 Buick Century 4dr Hardtop. It was my father in-laws, and he passed away 12 years ago. The car was just sitting in a shed collecting dust. So I brought it out of hibernation, and polished it up, and we are loving it! It is in near mint condition and it only has a few things that need to be done to it before we can take it on a long road trip. We are planning on coming to Portland to take in the 2014 Buick event. I have been reading this forum for awhile now, and look forward to participating it in too.
  7. Hello, I am new to this forum. I have just acquired a 1957 Buick Century 4dr hardtop, and it is an amazing car. It was restored in 1990, and is in excellent shape. I have had to do only minor work on it (water pump "thanks Russ!!", torque ball leak, brakes, speedo, belts, etc.) What I am having issues with is the trunk emblem. The four knobs on the back of the emblem that hold it onto the trunk lid are broken off. I have contacted a couple of local body shops, and they say that they cannot weld those "knobs" back on. So I am either looking to buy a "new/used" one or ideas on how to attach it to the trunk lid. I have attached a photo of the emblem in question. Thanks! Jason
