  1. At the Virginia Beach show last year I transported and prepared a 1962 SD for a friend.  The car is street tagged not driven though and was driven unto the show field by me into 36A. Oh, it is a correct PHS car.  Even got a first Junior for it.  The comment someone made about looking for these on the field was accurate as most folks walked by it without paying attention but the one's who did know were impressed

  2. I also enjoyed the new location as class 36B was near the crossover under the sign.  Lots of traffic that we have never had at the old location near water tower.  Many folks that came across the highway went to our location as they did not know we were not the for sale cars inside!  I heard a comment that the for sale cars are very nice down here in Charlotte while he was actually at our AACA location!  And our very own restroom facilities.  Maybe next year more food vendors :) yes I am congested due to the pollen and my car is a dusty mess like everyone else is in those winds.

Here are a few photos of cars near me and of course I had to put mine in the photos!!

  3. I also am a big fan of 24 foot trailers for cars especially for storage of stuff.  I have an ATC 24 aluminum 5200 axles.  Since you already have a 3/4 ton diesel tow rig you are good to go but be careful of too big of axles on steel trailers as you can wind up in commercial DOT territory with a high GCVW. As mentioned low level lighting is a must as well as a planned location for the side door so you can walk out of it!

  4. No question on the quality of the Cummings. My son had a 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 with a Cummings engine. Great truck, got 24 miles per gallon on highway, 17 towing, can't beat that. I was mad at him when he traded it in, wanted him to sell it to me.  Wished Dodge had kept the Cummings but looks like the motor they put in has been OK. Cadillac was looking at it for their CTS, so couldn't be that bad. Boy, if Dodge had kept the Cummings, added the Alison Transmission, they would have walked away with the market. Now that's a great combination. I'll keep watching the forums on the diesels and go take one out I guess. Want a nice truck to be able to pull my Durant in an enclosed trailer. Thanks for the replies.

I used to tow with 1500 6.2 GMC Denali had two of them. 10,000 GVW trailer loaded scaled to 9,400. Finally got smart and have a F350 diesel. Best change I ever made as the 6.2 didn't have the torque and was doing much shifting thus very high transmission temperatures. I'd stay with the 2500-3500 Dodge or F250-350 Ford diesels for towing. My two cents of opinion

  5. I also would like to say thanks to the many Hershey members for putting on the event. I think the Saturday show visitors was very high in my 36 area. I know how many cars were registered but wondered if there was a way to count spectators. And the spectators along the show field route was numerous. Anyone have a photo of my car entered. It is in the avatar photo

  6. are you sure about that truck number? If so you are well over 26K and into CDL? I'll have to look that combination up. If stopped in Maryland you will need a CDL medical card due to the trailer but from out of state I don't think you will have any problems. Oh, make sure your chains and brake safety pull cable are on correct and that the tires are capacity correct as I have been pulled and checked for that previously.

  7. Yes weigh it as there is always surprises as the manufacturers weights don't include stuff like spare trailer tires, bottle jacks, tools etc. my experience is that the steel Haulmarks are heavy ones. But I agree you will be ok with it no matter what.

Just as a reference I am at 9,400 lbs with my 61 Impala convertible in my 10,000 aluminum ATC including the above "stuff". I am 200 pounds lighter if I have the 62 Impala coupe in the trailer. Been stopped several times here in MD but never weighed just given heck as they think I should have DOT lettering.

  8. First Hershey in about 1978 random attendance since. Enjoy the car corrall. Weather permitting will be bringing the 62 and seeing the great cars in 36-B. Usually Friday afternoon "wandering" the chocolate field. Hope the weather makes it for Virginia Beach this weekend as showing my 1961 Impala for its first AACA type judged showing even though I have owned it for many years

  9. I enjoy garage visits!! Thanks for the offer. I am in cabinet phase with this one Larry. If not finished I can work out of old shop to prep for Hershey.

My main hang up is lighting now as builder installed a bunch of old T12's with a low k number cool white so not sure about converting them or going to something else. My old shop area is HO bulbs which is better.
