  1. I have never removed one! Please explain? Tkx jim
  2. Jason I checked mine today while I was replacing the track bar bushings which I had to saw out. The bolt was rusted in place the so was the bushing in the bar. Now there installed and so are the front stabilizer ones too. I also took the slack out of the steering box. Tomorrow Im replacing the brake hoses and the the heater hoses and more. Maybe by tomorrow or sat Ill drive and see how much its all improved. Thanks for the link. Jim
  3. Jan that under hood looks fabulous! I'm concentrating this summer on all the interior and accessory items that do not work and the suspension. Ill do the body over the winter. Tkx again. jim
  4. I have the power seat and I hear the motor start and nothing moves. The question is should I just remove the entire seat and then do my motor repairs? I ask that because some guys on here said they removed the motor without removing the seat. With the seat stuck in place (luckily its perfect for me in that position!) how can you even get in there? I have a saying when doing this type of work and it is " The most complicated way to repair something usually ends up being the shortest way!" in this case removing the entire seat! yes? Tkx jim
  5. Craig thanks for that info its just about what I figured. I had the front end aligned on Mon and the only things that appear shot were the rear track bushings (Moog made in USA) going in today in fact and the front stabilizer kit which I purchased at the local store also made in USA and they go in today too. BTW I'm 38 mi from Carlisle Ill look you up. Tkx Jim
  6. I have order a body manual and its been taking a while to get here hence all my silly questions. To get to the vent gear what side do I need to remove the inside panel or the outside skin or both? Jim
  7. I just worked on mine yesterday and mine was hooked up to a separate switch and a Nisson motor but it all works now. The passenger side didn't open all the way and 2 things were wrong there were remnants of a metal surround that was mostly gone but one piece was in the way and the shade was hitting it, The other was fixed by loosing the bolt on the adjuster at the motor and moving it until the shade was fully open then locking the bolt now all works as designed except for the separate switch and Im ok with that!
  8. Here is a pic of the chrome trim? 1st is it correct and if so is there 2 or 3 pieces one for each insulation area? Jim
  9. sometimes the extra vinyl is for the sun visors! jim
  10. #1I noticed a few cars including mine that the underside of the hood is painted the car color and that most I see are painted gloss black? which is it? #2The other item I see is I have 2 chrome surrounds at the left and right side of hood insulation are all 3 suppose to have that and is it even original? #3Lastly do the exterior cowl vents get painted the car color or does the flat side stay chrome? Jim
  11. Ok I checked out both sides today all was intact! One wire was slightly bent. I oiled everything but I believe the problem was the mirror shell was not in properly. The 2 **** on the bottom were not into there proper detent. Once I did that it all worked better at least good enough for me to adjust for my driving as I will be the only driver! thanks guys. Jim
  12. Is the manual vent window gear the same as the power vent gear? My passenger side needs replaced and like to have the gear in hand when I tear the door apart.
  13. Thanks Guys! Gord I usually try and repair everything before I buy anything! I even do my own zinc and Nickel plating!
  14. The sytem sounds exactly like my 76 rolls shadow. I wouldnt surprise me if there both from the same supplier. Which means a PITA to reconnect. Does anyone know if I can buy individual cables? I saw a complete unit for sale recently and I could combine both to make one!
  15. In my new acquisition the drivers mirror moves funky and only up and slightly down and sideways? I have worked on similar types on 70's Rolls and they had a series of wires that hooked in 4 different locations in the back of the mirror. That all said is this similar? It s nice to know what Im looking at before I tear it apart! Also do I need to remove the door skin and door panel or just the inside panel side? Thanks jim
  16. I want to re do the suspension on my new purchase my 65 GS. When I go to ebay there are several 65 kits and all look different and all say for a 65. So the question is which one do I buy and who makes the best quality kit? It may even be a kit not on ebay. I just go there as I sell there and it makes it easy but I buy everywhere I can get good quality items. Tkx Jim
  17. My car is coming in 2 days. The previous owner put synthetic fluid in I want to drain it.,what gm part numbet is the kit or whos kit can I buy?
  18. Tom Mooney wrote above how a lot of items did not match. I cam across this factory picture from 1965 today and notice how even the "perfect factory" picture show a glove box that does not match!

  24. ED or Tom did you see the 2nd paragraph in the #6 reply about my codes? Thanks jim
  25. Mike then you also noticed the rusty panel and that tells you why is popped on! Is the Riviera script and GS emblem just pushed on to the metal like most GM cars or do you use speed nuts? BTW My car was made in Jan 65 so I guess the larger script fits. jim
