Your factory service manual will likely have all the necessary information for testing procedures and equipment required for them.
Also, a Motors Manual that covers your year of car has the information too.

There were reproductions done probably 20+ years ago that were for sale at many car show flea markets including Hershey that were well done. Generally they were smaller than the originals but still presented well and were fine for a budget hobbyist like me. Now I see some of these same signs selling on eBay for a lot of money because the supply is less than the demand. In comes the India made reproductions that in most cases are poorer quality than those early reproduction signs. I always check eBay to see if I can find a sign that I think is a reproduction and find out how many are for sale there. If there’s more than one or two, good chance it’s a reproduction.
A local estate sales company near me had a porcelain sign and some framed 1930s racing posters for sale that were priced at several hundred dollars each. I thought they were reproductions and a few minutes searching on eBay confirmed my suspicions. I don’t mind buying some reproductions if all I want is a little garage art and not an investment. The best advice is buyer beware !

Has the generator been working and now it’s not? The usual first step is to check the wiring connections to the generator and voltage regulator. Make sure they are clean and tight. The generator brushes might be bad (worn down or poor connections internally). Gary 56 is suggesting to run the generator as a motor to see if internally everything is good which would then make the regulator the next suspect.

Nice car! Chevrolet sure doesn’t win any awards for dashboard design in these years.

Was on here a while back. I guess still no interest in it to the general public.

You guys up north should cut some of that extra salt out of your diet😀.

Creative battery tie down! Overpriced for the condition. Seat inserts look incorrect.

There are two yellow decals that should be on the radiator support that are missing. That might indicate there’s been some paintwork done. I had a 1964 Plymouth Belvedere with an honest 48k miles on it from my wife’s family and those decals were still present on it. Certainly not a big deal on a car like this at the price they are asking. The missing heater would need to be replaced unless you live where it’s never needed.

They were optional accessories for a radiator MotoMeter cap base. Some of the bases were flip open or screw off and had a place to attach the monogram piece to it.

Here’s a link to a YouTube video on re-magnetizing a magnet magnet. The guy first builds his magnetizer and then shows how to use it. Very interesting!

The person who took the photos is visiting family in the Vancouver area so I would guess it’s somewhere in that area now.

My son said the car is in the Vancouver area. RX Autoworks was involved in the restoration which are friends of the person who sent the pictures to my son.

I didn’t get details from my son on where in Canada the car I pictured is at. I will have to ask him.

I would think the battery connections you mention will need to be connected to a 12v neg ground source like a free standing 12v automobile battery to work. For example, a 12v neg ground powered timing light can be used on a 6v car provided the light electronics gets its power from a 12v source.

Yes, correct. I never heard of or saw one. Apparently they had a GM supplied Corvette drivetrain. The info I found said they made 100 cars, depending on how you count them production time-wise.

Nice car! Person who wrote the ad needs some assistance in how to describe the car and it’s condition. And I do like the color combo, very popular choice in 1950s.

Did those cars have air bags? Looks like the pass side has been set off??
No, too early for that.

I have to wonder how many people would want to invest time and money in a car like this, especially with the paint problems and other issues it has. Maybe do the minimum to just drive it. No AC in Maine shouldn’t be an issue.

Yes, front engine water cooled v8.

I like this car, as a fan of Chevy products it’s reminds me of many of the Chevys I saw in my youth. Most were just hard working every day cars for running the family around. I bet this car, as a two door, was bought for thrift and not for sporty looks. For sure I would like to know more about why it has low mileage. I’m sure glad the owner has not loaded it up with JC Whitney doodads that would detract from this car’s simple but good looks.

I always had both for the vehicles I owned. Sometimes the Motors manual had information or repair methods the shop manual did not include. You can never have enough of either!
