Wilshire Blvd - Great Stuff!  at 0.29, off to the left, is the Packard dealer, cars in plate glass window. at 0.41,  PACKARD sign on Tower above the plate glass.  Lincoln and Pierce Arrow on the street, left, 1.52. More Packards 2.55.  Then, they must have gone around the block to get a better view of the Packard dealer Thompson Motor Co, looks like '35 models in the showroom - vertical grille - and look at the used car lot at 2.58 -  I'll take 'em all at the advertised price. the new ones too!  Nothing older than 1930 in the used car lot, except maybe the Lincoln L town car in the back past the fence. No self respecting hollywood star would be driven around in something that old!  Wow!

  2. This sure looks like the same car at the 1932 Auto Salon at the Drake hotel - which is right next door to the Lake Shore Drive hotel.  And all those other cars are '32's,  so I think the date is right, which confuses me on the '33 license plate in the outdoor photo.   Here's a link to an article about the '32 Salon at the Drake.  And a Picture. https://chicagology.com/chicagoautomobile/1932autoshow/

I reckon this is a toolkit for a Packard, with the tool on the far right with the hex being the hubcap wrench. I've found these photos of a 1911 Model 30 that looks similar. I've found that the 1911's used an Eisemann magneto and had Hartford shock absorbers. I'm not sure what other years used an Eisemann, but the Hartford's were used on other year Packards in this period.

Wow!  That really looks like the one! That is amazing research! Soon to go on Ebay so someone who needs it can get it!

  4. Ok - here's a great one - way before Atlantic Auto Wreckers put up their "Impeach Earl Warren" Billboard above their junked classics in Gardena, CA, we have Dolores Gunn and her escort service in a '38 Packard advocating a recall of  the LA "Reform" mayor Fletcher Bowron!  And, I'm pushing the pre-war envelope because the missing spare tire tells me it was taken during WWII.   fa_1343_doloresgunnticketed1940z.jpg.5d97a51e298c1bdc0a84e8b3fa86e60d.jpg

  5. Here's a '30 Packard by LeBaron, built for Mrs. Walter O. Briggs, according to the caption on the back.  The caption also says it's a '31 but that can't be true for an obvious and visible reason.  It also looks like the chrome cones for the hubs are not installed, leading to the black reflection in the chrome wheel cover.  I think it's a 745 - lotsa hood going on there!  An awesome car!

  6. My guess is this was taken in France before the car went to India or Nepal. No Palm trees in the background.  I bet some of the license plate enthusiasts could take a reading of that plate.  Note the Cromos bumper, the Marchal headlamps, chrome wire wheels, and the siren! because people might not notice you on the road without those attention getting extras!
