1929 Graham-Paige 827 Roadster with Lorraine running board lights

Here is a good friend that brought his 28 Graham Page touring on the vintage tour in Kingston I am sure you know. With dual spot lights an single driving light. This is the way Mike bought the car some years ago and only refreshing the car up.

  2. I have a pair of 1912 porcelain plates for my car that was bought new in Manitoba by the original owner. I am told Ford only sold one car in Manitoba that year and would like to verify if that is true. Manitoba is over 2X the size of Texas and today's population 1.38 million gives you an idea how the population must have been very sparse for the size back then in 1912 as it is now. So I am thinking there must not be too many porcelain plates around for Manitoba. I am not going to grumble about condition and someones marksmanship.

For about six years now I have wanted to drive my '60 Electra around Lake Ontario. I am about six miles from the southern shore and it is only a two day trip.

Rather than 2 that is a good drive as mentioned above  take the Bath Road through Kingston that will turn into 33 / Loyalist Parkway cross on the Glenora Ferry and continue on 33 to 64 to 66. Just look on Google Map and you will see how far you can go along the lake. There is another road along the lake shore between Port Hope and Newcastle that is good and just repaved with more bikes than cars on it as in a few of the roads I have mentioned.  Have used these roads many of times for tours to get away from traffic. When you hit Newcastle you will be on #2.

When in Oshawa you could visit the Oshawa airport where the small Camp X museum is and see where the first CIA agents were secretly trained by the Canadians & British during WW2. Most of it was destroyed when shut down. Also a new tank museum there where they actually stage tank battles 3 times a year.

I better quit or I will turn your 2 day drive into a 5 day drive. But I have to add Oshawa has one of the most modern wind, ice, heat & snow test tunnels or shake the sh--- out of the car in the world. They test everything from winter clothing to bicycles to race cars and a great tour.

  4. We have been on a few AACA national tours over the years and had a blast on them.  Marty Roth is a great guy and convinced us to host a AACA national tour in Canada for 2019 . We chose Kingston On. being under an hr from the bridge or by a ferry that drops you off right in Kingston. Being a historical city surrounded in small villages connected with paved back roads was ideal location.  We seen the Rideau Canal a world heritage site still in operation from 1832. Took two boat rides one with our cars to cross a river to an vineyard and the other to tour the Thousand Islands. On the last day we parked our cars on the forward battery at Fort Henry while we tour the place and had lunch. Something we also did was had coffee and snacks  at the ACCCC Upper Canada region club house and something I hear they still talk about. Oldest car was this 07 Darraq and not one car through the week had to towed back to the hotel. Cars like Mr Kidd's air cooled Franklin roadster that participated and now etched in my brain was nice to see out. We had the use of a closed gentlemen's smoking lounge as our hospitality room for the evenings to sit back and relax with friends.

I have done shows but there is nothing like getting behind the wheel of your antique car with a group of people driving the back roads. You can drive at a slower pace to see the sights and stop to take a picture of where you have been.

So next your dust your car off and come on a national tour.

I believe all had a good time as I am bragging now that we surprisingly won a national award for that tour.

I have to thank Mark McAlpine for the pictures.

  5. Need 6 tires for a 1930 Cadillac and no one has tires for it but I can get Excelsior from Coker Tires. These are a European tire used for mainly racing they tell me.  Does anyone have any experience with them. 700R19 Excelsior Stahl Sport                                                      https://www.cokertire.com/tires/700-19-excelsior-comp-v.html

At the present I have Lester non radial wide whites were one has a tread coming off and a pain to clean. Car has been sitting for two years now (pandemic) so I want to be ready for next year.

Also any thoughts on theses tires for appearance on the old cars.

Thanks for your opinion in advance.

  6. Most people never heard of this company but they have over 60,000 IN STOCK 17,000 page catalog from interior / exterior trim hardware to tools for the job. One of there companies they supply is Fasten All. I bought the window channel for my 30 Cadillac from them and it was cheaper to buy the full box than individually so check the prices. Their mainly a wholesale company and ship out of their 115,000 sq.ft. warehouse and have a small front cash sale desk for locals like me.

And yes they have the cup washers in stock.

  7. People try different things like moth balls, dryer sheets, sound or oil but how do you know it actually works just because there is no signs of mice??? Maybe you were lucky that mice just have not ventured in your car or garage. Mice do not go in every car out there or there would be a bigger problem than it is now. Do you get mice in your daily driver that sits every night with no protection. Yes the odd cars wiring or upholstery does get damaged but as a rule not many like cars in storage. How often do you get mice in your house that has food and heat for mice.

I have 3 cars in two different buildings in a rural setting . I have a trap at each car tire x 3 = 12 traps not counting the ones in the car. Have not caught a mouse in a few years around the cars so does that mean mice do not like peanut butter or no mice?  So using traps I know if mice are around. With dryer sheets how do you know If there are mice around or not. Only REAL way to tell is set up a camera or put a trap in or around your car and see what happens. That is how I found out.

Did you know card companies started Valentines day to sell more cards. I wonder if the dryer sheet companies started the one on a deterrent for mice.

I once caught a mouse in my barn by his front leg so it dragged the trap into a warfarin bag to hide where he died. True story.

My own thoughts, experiments and controversy.

  8. I have known Steve and Brenda for some time and a man I will never forget. Steve always leaves you with a smile with his quick wit and friendly manner. He was actually the person that nominated us as Buzzys and he always referred to me as the guy from Canada that made hockey pucks. A great guy that will definitely be missed on club events.

Rest in peace Steve and Brenda please get well.

Bounce dryer sheets scattered around the car - in the trunk, in the interior, under the hood, one inside the exhaust pipes, and several scattered around the garage. They hate 'em.

I know that does not actually work. Had a the trunk and car scattered every where with sheets and still caught mice with a trap bated with peanut butter in the car trunk.

There are some good examples of the small front passenger seat in this topic.
Does anyone have or know of one for sale? Needed for my 1928 Stutz Victoria Coupe. It would be very close to the 1927 Stutz pictured in the first post.

    Thanks

Try Jeffery Person in Kansas I know he had a 30 /31 Cadillac Victoria a few years ago he was parting out. You never know and I have patterns for the passenger seat hardware if needed. Great people to deal with.

Dick Shappy in Road Island was / is doing a 31 12 cyl Victoria but I do not recommend that route at all. I dealt with him on parts and it went south real fast.

  11. This 32 Chevy Victoria convertible belongs to a club member up here. The car was her fathers who passed away just before the restoration was completed. My thoughts are this is the nicest year and model Chevy put out. I took this shot on one of our vintage tours up here in the north.

I have to say Lynne and I put this weekend tour on where this stop had a vintage theater and memorabilia movie collection where the car is parked. Included 4 theaters the fellow built using the decor from very old theaters. He played very old movies you could sit and watch. Or just wander around and look at the exhibits or have a picnic lunch by the river. An extremely nice spot for a tour stop and sorry for getting side tracked. Have to start a new tread on great tour stops you have been on.

  12. I have owned this 1930 Cadillac 353 five - passenger opera coupe for almost 40 years. Was owned by two others who passed it around in baskets before I got to sort it out. Yes it was a major undertaking but it was a fun project that I enjoyed doing. It sat in the back corner of my barn for more years that I want to admit to before finishing the restoration after I retired. I guess it was my own barn find. Has been on a few AACA national tours Sentimental, Glidden and vintage tours and many tours this side of the boarder over the years. A great driver after getting rid of the 4.75 gears it came with and now 360s.

You know you have a scarce car when you google your make, model and year a picture of your car comes up.  Yes it has everything factory correct (to my knowledge) it came with from air intake cover to interior sun visors.
