Martin -

If it is an original Ford coupe body and has not been extensively modified, the doors for the 1918-1923 model year coupes were hinged at the rear (suicide doors).

-The 1924-1927 model year coupes had the doors hinged at the front.

-The 1924-25 model year coupes had the two piece windshield.

-Based on your description so far, it is likely that you have a 1924-1925 model year coupe. Some were sold as early as Aug 1923 [ref: http://www.mtfca.com/encyclo/1923.htm ] so they could have been registered as a 1923 in some states but they had the 1924 model year style body with the doors hinged at the front and opening from the rear.

Mine is derived from enjoying the woodworking past-time: fiddling with wood. (my Dad always accused us of fiddling with stuff)

Per The Locomobile Society of America http://www.locomobilesociety.com/index.cfm , the production number of cars for that year is unknown (as NZ said above). Definitely a Lycoming Engine as the data plate shows. Neat unit, thanks for posting PC.

HG - I am interested in your research also. I am curious as to the photo that you posted. Is that a vintage picture? Or is that a recent composition, with three elements (house, car, signature) blended to look old? I want to believe the latter as I believe this is the same car. Maybe?

Yes John, he is still into cars. Period. They are pretty, expensive and I received no enjoyment from them. Show me a desert junkyard and I will enjoy that more than his high-dollar street rods. But thanks for trying John. We know where your heart is!

Robert - Thank you for posting the photo. It is an awesome car. It looks like a 1933 Ford Deluxe or a Fordor to me. But I am a rookie in relationship to folks like Mr. John (Keiser31), but that looks like a door handle by your Dads right hip.

The paint/body shop is only 22 miles from the funeral home that is identified in that outdoor photo, so I'd guess it's one in the same. John - I am looking for the photos that I have scanned. I think my Dad had written on the back of one with the Chalmers year. I just haven't put my fingers on it. After my youngest moves into her first apartment (yea) I'll get back to being more organized.

Hi folks,

I was hoping someone can offer some assistance. My Dad was responsible for liquidating my Grandfathers accumulation upon his death. One of the vehicles that was sold was a Chalmers Hearse, mid teens. Does anyone know of this massive vehicle and it's condition? I would have changed hands in the 90's, from upstate NY to ???? On the day of my Dads birth, I have gotten curious. Thanks for looking and pondering.
