Las Vegas Dave - I did that last year and it was very straight forward. There was not anything in the way, just a little cramped getting at the front bolts. Had mine off to check the oil pump and the pan had very little sludge. I had been using non-detergent 30 wt oil for about 12,000 miles, so wasn't sure what i would find. Previous owner was using detergent oil, so since it was so clean I changed back to detergent.

Sean - I am sure he just forgot to say Thanks!

Had an AACA meeting this afternoon and put about 40 miles on the Buick - sunny, cool and windy, but a great day to dive the Buick. We had two new families join and another visiting, so a good day for the AACA! Out of 21 member families we had 10 old cars (25 years or older) at the meeting.

I have lots of new (but very old) headlight relays in their original boxes, if anyone needs one.

Leonard, TX.
Hi Pete, good to see you today at the Chickasha Pre-War Swap Meet. I might be interested in one of the headlight relays. Can you PM a photo and cost to me?
Thanks,
John

Ben, Great to meet you today and see the '50 in person - what a neat car! Hope we run into each other at more events.

Our Texas Region AACA club had our Spring Tune-Up Tour on Saturday, so logged about 100 miles through the horse farm country of North Texas. Toured a Tulip Farm and a Reining Horse training and breeding farm, so it was a full day. We had 20 club members on the tour and encountered some light mist and rain getting to the starting point, but it cleared off and turned into a great day.

That is definitely a '39 engine number - about 1,400 after mine which was produced late May of '39.

Bob,
Lots of room still available in Texas if you want to come join us!

I got your PM and sent you an e-mail with copies of newsletters from both local clubs.

Either General or Technical will get replies, and Post War will get to guys who only check on newer vintage Buicks.

Hey Rob, I sent you a Private Message. Let me know if you don't get it and I will send via e-mail instead.

Rob, if you are on the AACA Forum, just scroll down to the Buick Forum - look forward to seeing you there. Based on your phone number you are in the Dallas area, so if you are going to join a local club there is a BCA chapter and also an AACA chapter. If you are interested I can give you details on both.

Getting an education, so please continue!

Weather here in the 70's the last couple of days, so the '39 Buick has been getting some exercise in the bright sunshine. Close to 50 miles just running around the last few days.

I would think the title to this truck probably has the weight on it.

Not familiar with what your badge(s) look like, so maybe a photo would get you a better response. Here is the DPC Badge I am about to mount on my car. I went to the hardware store and got a piece of brass flat stock and cut to be slightly shorter than the badge width and drilled holes in it. I plan to mount it so the flat stock is behind the grill and the bolts go between the grill bars.

I was remiss in not taking any pictures - too busy talking to new acquaintances, checking out cars and dodging raindrops. Hope someone did a better job and will post their photos.
Thanks, JV

Really had a good time in Houma for my first AACA Meet - some very nice cars and the food was terrific. Rain held off till Saturday and dampened the show field a bit, but the judges managed to get all cars judged. Pleased that my '39 Buick Business coupe was awarded a DPC award. I drove the coupe from the Dallas area to Houma and arrived home about noon today - 1,059 miles round trip. May make the trek to Galveston in 2016 for the Central Fall Meet.

Back from the Central Fall Meet in Houma - 1,059 miles round trip on the '39. Rain on Saturday was a bit of a problem, but the judges got everyone judged. This was my first time to attend an AACA Meet, and the '39 got a Driver Participation Class (DPC) Award. We got to see some really nice cars at the meet. So, we might make the trip to Galveston next year for the 2016 Central Fall Meet.

Drove the '39 Coupe from North Texas down for the Central Fall Meet in Houma. A bit over 500 miles and everything went well. Lots of cars in the lot and more arriving today, so looking forward to enjoying the next couple of days.

Back in the pre-calculator and computer days we had platen cleaner to refresh the rollers on the adding machines, teller machines and typewriters. Might find at an older office supply store.

Any Texans from North Texas going?
