  1. Hi Steve I am unable to help you with a pump but I can advise you DO NOT USE THE VEHICLE until you have it repaired A friend of mine had the same problem and the shaft ended up snapping and the gear got picked up on #3 connecting rod Good luck with your repair Ron

Hi George My Aussie Bodied 2249 Senior has Bakelite inserts in the door handles as well as the horn button and its surround I used a product called Purple which is a metal polish Started with Purple on some 1200 wet and dry to remove the excess oxidation and the polished them with Purple on a cloth The came up very good Hope this helps Ron

Hello Folk on this forum I have a Dodge Brothers Senior 6 that has Watson Stabilators fitted When I restored them I used a 1 1/2" wide nylon strap that I had saved from a job 18 years ago This strapping is white in coulor and has a 5 ton breaking capacity The restoration of my car is not completed so they have not been road tested During the cleaning up process I dug out of the brake bands what I thought to be 80 odd years of crud. I have now discovered that these little bits of what I assumed the be dirt are actually a lubricating insert that should not have been removed Can any one tell me if these little discs are available Thanks in advance Ron

Hello Anthony, I trust that you had a great festive season.I was brousing through some old posts and came up on the one where you are inquiring about the lubrication inserts for Watson Stabilators. The reason I am asking is that I have just done my 4 up and I thought that the "inserts" were just dirt and stuff that needed to be cleaned out, so I did. Then I found out about the inserts. Did you find out what they were made of I rescued the scraps from the bin and the look and feel a bit like the material the carbon brushes are made of and they do have graphite in them as well so the graphite would be the lubricating agent I dont think that the boxes of 60 inserts that they talk about in the Watson Manual are still avaliable. Any information that you can share will be greatly appreciated Cheerio Ron

  5. Hi Shanno and Dennis I have read somewhere that the rims were cad plated silver for the love of me I can't remember where it was. Your restoration is simply awesome.The 2249 Senior 6 that I am restoring has copper brake lines as well I was able to purchase new old stock brake linings when I restored the breaking system That was 25 years ago I still have 1 box enough to do 1 axle although at the rate I am going I will never wear the brakes out Cheers and keep up the good work and look forward to catching up in Detroit Ron

  6. There has been times in my life I have been so poor that I couldn't even afford to pay attention Some how we manage to cope and carry on. With me having a wonderfull and very supportive wife that also loves the old cars is a great bonus. If I could afford it I would send you a few grand as you would not believe how much encouragement this post has given me in the restoration of my car. Money cannot buy that sort of kick start that your post on Daphnies refurbishment has given me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart and I sincerely hope that we will be able to catch up in Detroit in 2014 Cheers Ron

  7. Mate I am sure that the fast 4 had an open tailshaft My car has a torque tube Nothing that you can say will convince me that you are not a true lover of old cars I never seen any adds on the DB Aussie Club web site or in there magazine You are in my eyes just a scrap metal merchant

It just goes to show what a lot of time an patience can achieve My 2249 Senior 6 tourer was in about the same condition as yours and at the present time I am doing lots of grafting and rust replacing panel patches that I have made The rear wheel arches are proving to be a real challenge but when I look at what you achieved I have nothing but admiration One day I will learn how to post pictures and the I can share my project Good luck and now is the time to enjoy the years of all that work Cheers Ron

Do the seat supports have to be reset by hand so the seat can be lowered If so one would need long arms I think in most cases it would be the driver retrieving the luggage so that is why the suport has a mounting position on either side but only one suport device was fitted to each car Just my illogical theory Cheers Ron
