  1. I am looking for a list of color combinations that may have been used on 1931 Chrysler CD8 Roadsters (or '31 Chrysler CD8's). I found a "barnfind" Roadster recently (ser#9820125) which I plan to restore, and initial stripping back seems to suggest car may have been black. I checked this site's Dupont/Duco color library and it does not list Black as a '31 Chrysler Color option, but lists 90 different colors for '31 Chryslers, including 24 shades of Gray, 21 shades of green, 15 shades of Blue, 13 shades of Brown, 9 shades of Beige/Tan, 4 of Maroon and 2 Yellow and 2 Drab. It does not indicate which were body, trim/stripe or fender colors etc. Anyone have a combination list? Also, although my car was assembled in Canada, body #CD1475R, I am advised bodies were pre-painted in USA before sending to Windsor, Canada for assembly. Anyone know if this is correct?
  2. I have this sidemount hardware of unknown model/year. 24" long post, 8" cast steel outrigger. Can anyone tell me what it fits? Was told it was possibly De Soto. Thought it might suit a 1931 CD8 but now I don't think so. Would consider selling it.
  3. You indicate you have CD 8 fenders, can you post pics and a description of condition and asking price. Thanks.
  4. Have you prepared the engine for starting after such a long rest? Has oil pan been off for example to look at lower end? My '31 Chevrolet Coach had been sitting for 46 years when I bought it 8 years, and before I started it, among many other things, I checked oil level, and it was full, oil appeared new, so I started it up. A few weeks later when I took off the oil pan to check for a noisy bottom end, I found there was only about 1/2" of usable oil in pan (PO had obviously added a quart or so), and the rest of the 46 year old oil had congealed into a thick tar, mostly blocking the oil pump intake. It would not drain from pan and had to be scraped out. As well, the "dippers" on the connecting rods had been installed backwards. So before starting any long resting engine, there is a standard set of suggestions to prevent damage, and dropping oil pan for a look is my recommendation.
  5. I have a rumble seat rear fender step plate part #88123-1 which is listed for a 1927/28 Model 52 Chrysler. Appears to be cast aluminum, likely a rare part, came to me with a CD8 Roadster which it does not suit, asking $50 plus shipping. Make offer if interested.
  6. Thanks for extra info, I will log your details for future reference.
  7. Can you tell me more regarding your "almost complete engine", is if Dodge DC8 or Chrysler CD8, does it run, what's missing, what are you asking as a price, is clutch/clutch fork included?
  8. I have spoken past week with the nice gentleman who is interested in selling it as a sedan project versus a donor car. Would like to buy it anyway as a future project if it was closer. It needs a lot of work to restore to a driver standard, but not a lot of these cars around. I may get back to him again at some point. Thanks for letting me know.
  9. Thanks for the offer on Engine, I have one lined up closer to home, but it is not complete either, will keep yours in mind over next few months. Before I lay out dough for the pieces missing, I'll need to know I can get most of everything I need for an end to end drivetrain.
  10. This '31 CD8 Roadster was found weathered and stripped of all its spare parts in a scrap yard in 1950. A keen guy modified it with a V8Caddy/LaSalle/Auburn drivetrain, restored the body and he and 2 subsequent owners drove it until it went into hiding (and deteriorating again) in 1970. This photo shows it at a car show in April 1966. You will note it has same non-matching bumper it has today, which I think is from a '35 International Truck. I have the non-original C/L/A drivetrain as a second option. Body is in rough shape but restoreable again. It was built in May 1931 in Windsor Ontarion Canada, serial # 9820125, body # CD1457R.
  11. Recently found a 1931 Chrysler CD8 Roadster, missing all original bright work, drive train and wheels. Would like to bring it back to original if pieces can be found. Anyone out there have a parts pile for such a rare car? Would consider taking a complete but rough CD8 "donor car" of any model in $5K-$7K range.
  12. just purchased a rare '31 Chrysler CD8 Roadster which had been barned 40+ years ago, stripped, painted all over with red oxide, and left untouched last 30+ years. anyonje have spare parts for this, drivetrain, all lights (head,tail,cowl), 6 wire wheels, F/R bumpers, miscellaneous trim? Car was "rodded" in the 1950's, classic '48 Cadillac V8, LaSalle Tranny, Auburn rear end, steel wheels, 15" on front, 16" on rear, oddball headlights and bumpers. Have not yet decided if I will restore (at a cost of $30K-$50K) or return to '50's era rod appearance (perhaps cost of $10K-$20K).
  13. There is an rare and fine "Autoreelight" for sale on eBay. These were first available as an after market service/emergency light in late teens-early 20's and fitted to many early Ford, Chevrolet and Dodge cars. <input id="gwProxy" type="hidden"><!--Session data--><input onclick="jsCall();" id="jsProxy" type="hidden">
  14. I see a rare circa 1940 Packard Road and Fog Lamp/Light for sale on eBay closes soon for anyone looking for one of these. <input id="gwProxy" type="hidden"><!--Session data--><input onclick="jsCall();" id="jsProxy" type="hidden"><input id="gwProxy" type="hidden"><!--Session data--><input onclick="jsCall();" id="jsProxy" type="hidden">
  15. I am not paid member so not sure I can post a new thread, so am using this one to let members know of a recent barn find of an early teen's Studebaker I found in an outbuilding in Halifax NS Canada. Owner says its a 1916 tourer, drivetrain looks complete and owner (he's 91) says he has had big engine running recently. Wheels are also in decent shape, but touring body/frame pretty rusty and rough. Bows for roof are there. Not sure if he would sell it as he is a bit eccentric (has several old '20's Fords, a '29 Dodge and '48 Packard as well). Amazing these old beasts keep showing up! <input id="gwProxy" type="hidden"><!--Session data--><input onclick="jsCall();" id="jsProxy" type="hidden">
