  1. Sounds like this was a reasonable way of buying cars Welcome and have fun. Uli
  2. If you like we can check some details this weekend. At least I can tell how some things look on my 1939 Model 41 to compare with what you have. Maybe it is a mixture of different years which should not be too complicated to find out. Once you know what part of the car comes from what year you can order the right parts to complete your unique version then. regads Uli
  3. Hello Marco, nice to see another late 30's Buick in Europe. Where in NL do you live? I live near Venlo in Germany. Might be a nice idea to meet each other. regards Uli
  4. Sounds really horrible to people in Europe like me who live in quite "normal" areas. Hope everything will be ok and no more shakes. Uli
  5. Usually it will not have one. Therefore it's important to use the correct non detergent oil. regards from Germany Uli
  6. Problem is solved! The missing part is still at the block. I found the picture before disassembling. Seems that the original mount was replaced somewhen with something else. Uli
  7. Also got the information that mine might be totally wrong. Here is a (bad) picture where there were. Does anyone have a picture of the original ones together with the engine on the frame? Uli
  8. I ordered new motormounts cause one was broken. But I got a different set of mounts than I expected. Uli
  9. I've diethylether now at home (50ml for $2) will now order small copper tube ($10)to make the repair. I asked for repair here in Germany: 200$ and it will take 8 weeks I'll share the result after finishing the repair. Uli ...someone here who has a spare gauge & sender unit at home? (just kidding)
  10. I saw that article and the way doin' the repair doesn't scare me. But if the liquid is too low already I'm in trouble...
  11. Does anyone know which liquid is inside the temp sender? Unfortunately the tube broke because the sender was not removable from the head. Finally (after having the head on the workbench) it could be removed. I put the sender unit in the fridge to cool it down and removed the temp gauge from the car to repair it. I can try to solder the tube to the sender bulb but might be a good idea to refill enough of the liquid beforehand. But what exactly is inside it? Uli

If you find your rear end I'm interested in your 3.9 Best regards from one of those special guys  Uli
  13. Just a small update about the next steps. We will remove the engine from the car to inspect it in detail. After inspection we will decide what needs to be replaced/modified. Because this is my first Buick I have no idea about the quality of engine kits supplied by Kanter / Egge / Bob's. Do the use all the same sources / manufacturers? Engine has first priority now but I will look for rear end as well. I had some experience restoring my '58 Vette ( http://www.corvette-classic.de/resto/resto.html ) and like to gain some more knowledge now with a 20 years older car. Any additional information is welcome. Uli
  14. Thanks for your input. I already found Kanter and his products. To change rear end what need to be purchased and where to get it? Uli
  15. Hi folks, I bought a marvelous '39 in excellent condition in January. After bringing it to Germany I found some problems with the engine. First inspection after removing the oil pan shows -axial play which seems to be too big -oil leakage -at least one connecting rod bearing almost gone What would you recommend? Uli
  16. Hello to the AACA forum from Germany. I found the ad at Hemmings last week because we were on vacation in Florida. After we visited Bob O'Hara's shop in Frostproof a friend of mine and I fell in love with the Buick and decided to give it a new home in Germany. We're owning Corvettes (my '58 and my friends '67 and '70) but are interested in old cars in general. This car will not be found that often in Germany (if in Europe). Therefore I'm looking for information about technical things as well as for historival facts in this forum. Maybe we can get additional information from the previous owner. Unfortunately we had not the chance to get in contact with you because we left Florida last Saturday. Greets from icy cold Germany Uli
