Guest
Dear friend
Identifying the different car makes and models of old photos from teens is a great problem here in Finland. Is it okey that I send them to this forum in order to get help from you who are more experienced on this field? How can I send a mystery photo to this forum?
I am registered but face difficulties to use my user name or password. I thin I remember them right but am not 100% sure. So I am using currently my son´s name. Can I get some help to this. My e-mail address is: juhakai@wakkanet.fi
I wish you all Happy New Year 2001

Juha Kaitanen
Turku Finland
ThomasBorchers
I got the pics from Juha. I made them x-large so that you can see details. This is the reason why I don't post it here but if click you see the links you can see them.
pic 1
pic 2
pic 3
pic 4
I mean that pic 2 and 3 is a 1911 Cadillac Model 30 with torpedo body? Because they call the torpedo as "all steel body" instead of the other bodies. They have the wooden fire wall.
Tom
Chris Paulsen
Great photos! I believe picture 2 and 3 are of a 1913 Studebaker Model 25. It was a 4 cylinder, 5 passenger Touring car.
I don't know about picture 1, and I will have to let you know about picture 3.
Hope this helps, Chris
ThomasBorchers
Chris~~
Yes, this sounds not bad. The model 25 was the only 1913 Studebaker without electrical lights and it looks like the same car. I had no pic of the 1911 Cadillac torpedo but of the 1913 Studebaker.
Tom
Guest
Not an '11 Cadillac. The Cadillac had a wooden firewall in '11 which protruded well above the cowl and this car shows no wood.
hvs
ThomasBorchers
Howard~~
I thought this could be a Cadillac because they called the torpedo an "all steel body" and the other not. I have no pic of the torpedo. I fact I know of course that the they have a wooden wall because my 1912 has it, too. As you know.
Tom
Bob McAnlis
Photo 1 - some interesting points. First, I believe that Cadillac's of this vintage had a transverse platform spring rather than 3/4 elliptic as in thephoto. Car 1 has a sprag hanging down. The latest of these on US cars was probably 07. The side lights and perhaps the horn are European. This high cowl, I have not seen on any US cars, but do remind me of the Protos from the 1908 round the World race, and I believe also on some Austro Daimlers I have seen somewhere in old photos. Anyway, I believe that this car is a rebody of an earlier chassis of 1905/06 period. European torpedo style predated those in the US by at least three years, but I do not believe they wentback to 05/06. this is fun to contemplate. ronbarn
Juha, great photos - looks like the drivers and passengers are having a great time, especially in #4. I go along with the Studebaker for #2 & #3. As mentioned in another reply, the large, slooping cowl is something I cannot find in my literature.
