Dear friend
Identifying the different car makes and models of old photos from teens is a great problem here in Finland. Is it okey that I send them to this forum in order to get help from you who are more experienced on this field? How can I send a mystery photo to this forum?
I am registered but face difficulties to use my user name or password. I thin I remember them right but am not 100% sure. So I am using currently my son´s name. Can I get some help to this. My e-mail address is: juhakai@wakkanet.fi
I wish you all Happy New Year 2001

Juha Kaitanen
Turku Finland

I got the pics from Juha. I made them x-large so that you can see details. This is the reason why I don't post it here but if click you see the links you can see them.
pic 1
pic 2
pic 3
pic 4
I mean that pic 2 and 3 is a 1911 Cadillac Model 30 with torpedo body? Because they call the torpedo as "all steel body" instead of the other bodies. They have the wooden fire wall.
Tom

Photo 1 - some interesting points. First, I believe that Cadillac's of this vintage had a transverse platform spring rather than 3/4 elliptic as in thephoto. Car 1 has a sprag hanging down. The latest of these on US cars was probably 07. The side lights and perhaps the horn are European. This high cowl, I have not seen on any US cars, but do remind me of the Protos from the 1908 round the World race, and I believe also on some Austro Daimlers I have seen somewhere in old photos. Anyway, I believe that this car is a rebody of an earlier chassis of 1905/06 period. European torpedo style predated those in the US by at least three years, but I do not believe they wentback to 05/06. this is fun to contemplate.

Juha, great photos - looks like the drivers and passengers are having a great time, especially in #4. I go along with the Studebaker for #2 & #3. As mentioned in another reply, the large, slooping cowl is something I cannot find in my literature.
