cobravii
I have a 1964 Buick electra that I am completing a frame off resto on. I have the new top installed and it seems that the side frames above the door windows are sagging. Is there any way to adjust this so the frame stays horizontal? Or do I need to repair something? Thanks in advance
EmTee
If your top is like others I have seen, I would look closely at the pinned joint directly ahead (or near the forward edge) of the rear quarter glass. If the joint is worn (elongated) it allows the frame to extend beyond 180 degrees and the result is a sag or droop of the frame directly above the door and/or quarter glass. The typical result is that the door glass has to be lowered slightly to allow the door to open and close. If you're lucky there will be a replaceable bushing; otherwise a larger pin or hole repair is necessary.
JohnD1956
My 69 has a section in the manual for adjusting that sag. Its probably different than your top but I found loose bolts in mine which cured the problem.
