STAYGOLD
Looking to see if anyone could help in correctly identifying this new old stock GM wiring harness? The box is dated 1969, as is the invoice that was in the box with the harness. The original part number was 8728685, replaced by 8728595.... I believe it is either Pontiac or Buick, but cannot find it in any of my catalogs. Any help would be great. Thanks.
lump
Look for more GM Part-Number Supersession catalogs (I have some lying around somewhere). GM superceded part numbers repeatedly over the years, often combining parts with slight differences into a single new part number. When you cannot find an old one, look for it that way. For the record, Supercession Catalogs are just giant lists of numbers. They do not tell you anything about applications, etc. They only list numbers, and show new numbers which replace them. I have traced one number being changed five or six times, in some cases. (For the record, even the dictionary is uncertain which way to spell "Supercession").
