Cowtown Commander
Have my 1938 Coupe in for paint. I would like to install some hinge mounted mirrors but that will necessitate removal of the hinge pins. A couple of Questions:1) Original Hinge Pins are Part # 266851 and 266852 - will I need an alternate pin (longer than the standard pin)?2) Since these pins do not seem to be readily available does anyone know of a suitible substitute - will something from a Ford or later Studebaker work? Spinneyhill
Does the hinge mount mirror come with the required pin? Ford hinges are narrower, from memory. I went through this many years ago for a 1939 L5.
drdon
The hinge pins on my 37 J5 were long enough as they were. I would guess they would not be hard to find if you had to get longer ones, or you could just weld some more metal on the end and grind to shape while they are out. Good luck.
