RivNut
http://www.ebay.com/itm/ROLLLS-ROYCE-TRANSMISION-/331615802043?hash=item4d35d792bb&vxp=mtr This ad states that this transmission from a Rolls Royce will bolt on to a nailhead engine. Did Rolls Royce have this bell housing pattern that many years after Buick switched to the GM Corporate bell housing? Can any one confirm this? 1965rivgs
Ed, I`m sure Rolls used the switch pitch at some point but I`m not sure of the time frame. Send a PM to Rufcar, he is a Rolls enthusiast, he might know, Tom
Rufcar
From around 1966 67 Rolls switched from its own gear box to GM 400. My 89 has the same gm400. The older automatics approx 1957 to 67 used a GM hysromatic but they RR bought the GM license to build one. The problem is every part was re machined to RR standards so today when an owner wants there's repaired shop use GM parts. They fit but do not work properly and the gear box lasts less then 1000 mi. RivNut
I was just curious if the older nailhead bell housing bolt pattern was used in later years by Rolls-Royce. The picture shows a round bell housing with the starter on the driver's side. Didn't Jeep use this same design for some time after Buick dropped it?
