MAG473
I want to pull the Dodge 6 cylinder engine from the bellhousing. Do I have to remove the clutch and flywheel for the block to come forward?
jpage
I would say yes. I think most all of the 6's were the same , so the bell housing will be fastened to the block behind the flywheel.
MAG473
It looks like the 4 bolts attaching the transmission to the bellhousing have to be removed first. As things would go, 3 bolts turn, the 4th is in a tough place to get a wrench on it. Nothing time and a wrench with a bend cant take care of. jpage
If you have any other questions PM (vicpanza), a member of this forum as he's had a few of these trucks and he would be happy to help you.
countrytravler
As you can see in the pictures. The housing opening not large enough for the engine and flywheel to be removed as a unit. Would have to remove trans-clutch-flywheel before you can remove bell housing. Disconect the trans from the bell then remove the engine. Pulling the front clip makes the job a lot easier. Then remove engine and trans as a unit. Hope this helps. Edited March 11, 2015 by countrytravler (see edit history)
