Bud Tierney
I'm not familiar with Cont'l 8s---do we know which one was used, or are all the Cont'l 8 blocks interchangeable??

Bud Tierney
Many thxx for replies---yes, I noted the 4-litre on one of the websites in some cursory Googling...It was just academic curiosity on my part; I hadn't been in these before, and I find I have contradictory info in what info I do have, as well as not having a complete 8 and/or 8 b/s list...Per what I have, the 27/8x43/4s would appear to be the closest, but while my info indicates some of these 27/8s innards may be different, the blocks may well be the same... Bud Tierney
Ken: Got your emails... Replied (that I couldn't help) but reply got kicked back as junk mail, so've tried sending copy direct. With sympathy, Bud T
Guest motorradSTL
Hi,Do you still need one of these engines? I have one on ebay right now.
Bud Tierney
I'd forgotten about this thread; apparently got involved in something else...and cannot find whatever email I sent/tried to send...SOT/KEN?? If you're still here, were you able to ID which Cont'l you were looking for??I either overlooked, or hadn't found at the time, the Willys 1930-32 Cont'l 8 of 31/8x4, which, if the Google calculator is correct, comes out 245.44 (4L at 61.02=244.08; per the scribbled notes I can find I apparently had 61.4 for 1L))...MTR---what's the Ebay #; or what should I punch in to find?? I can't get it to come up in the endless Cont'l things under the keywords I've tried...
alsancle
Here is the ebay listing: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Continential-Red-Seal-15S-Straight-eight-Meteor-/291678194785 Complete engine. Doesn't run. Crankshaft turns. No compression. Parts intact; original starter, generator, distributor, and carburetor. Add-on oil filter. Was converted to unknown use, possibly stationary. Has water pump bypass and heat exchanger added to exhaust manifold, has second generator added on homemade brackets on lower left side; see pictures. Not sure what this engine came from, but these were fitted in several manufactures' cars including Stutz, Moon, Ruxton, Diana, and Locomobile. We reserve the right to end the auction at any time. Bud Tierney
My Cont'l 8 list is nowhere near complete, but you can add other 15S users:Davis---Series 99 1928...Jordan---Model J-JI-JE-G-70-8o-90 1926-30 Light 8--- which came with one of Cont'ls 8SA, 14S, 15S, 17S...(the 36 catalog lists only some of those 28-31 with the 15S)...Kleiber truck---unidentified models 28-30Meteor Hearse (Ambulance?/) var models 29-30S&S (Sayers & Scoville) Hearses, Ambulances var models 29-31Windsor White Prince models 8-65 and 8-92 1929-31 (built by Moon?)World truck model D8 11/2-2T (they also used 14S and a couple Lyc 8s)...no yrs stated...These all from 1930-36 replacement parts catalogs; these old parts catalogs are never complete, and as often contradictory, so listings and dates may not match what actually hit the road. And, yes, Virginia, there are hearse/ambulance collectors; I do believe there's at least one website...
