JFranklin
I would recommend having your original springs rebuilt to your specs.
bob duffer
Wow ,I didn't know they could do that. I thought once the metal was streached that was it.
fordrodsteven
National Parts Depot has them ($180). You might be able to find them cheaper if you shop around. I remember once I went to a truck spring and suspension shop to add a leaf to my springs on a 63 Falcon. They made everything I wanted and it was reasonable. bob duffer
I checked with national parts depot...they only carry the 4 leaf. I did find a place here in Michigan that can re-do mine.Or make me a new set if mine aren't able to be fixed.
fordrodsteven
My mistake - I'm sorry. I looked it up under 1955 at NPD. Try www.concoursparts.com they list a 5 leaf spring for the 56 bird
1957Birdman
Hi Bob,All '56s came from the factory with the 4 leaf rear springs. In the Ford parts book it lists the following part numbers for the rear springs of a '56 (B7S 5560-A and B6S 5560-, the former being the 5 leaf and the latter being the 4 leaf. The '56 definitely had a softer ride than the '55 model. I've never ridden in a '56 so I can't compare it to my '57. In the end the 5 leaf will probably give you better handling, at the expense of a slightly harder ride.Regards,Lew
