Guest Straight eight
Does the parts car have Dyna Flow? If not a rear end from one of the 50's Buick should be researched.
Guest Richard Moore
Straight -eightBoth are three speed manual trannies.Would the rear end from a 48 or later dyna-flow offer a more road friendly ratio. Can anyone tell me what ratio my super currently has.Richard
Guest kaycee
Hi, I owned a '50 Super stick shift that the dealer installed a Dynaflow rear axle assy in after a rear end collision. It was a great road car with the higher ratio, not only speed wise but also with gas mileage. The car would run 85 mph in second gear without a problem. I'd check on a later Dynaflow equipped car for a whole rear axle assy. I think that'd help you a lot. kaycee
Leif Holmberg
Here are different ratios on Buick cars. Leif in Sweden.
The Old Guy
From 1940 to 1955 the differentials would interchange. The later V8 dynaflow Buicks had 3,4-3,6 ratios and were much better for travelling.
Ben Bruce aka First Born
Richard, if it is like my '50 , it is marked on the BOTTOM of the differential housing. Probably a 4.1/1. Ben
