Smartin
I took the car to its first cruise over on the other side of the river in IL last night. It had good reviews from other club members and strangers alike. I still have a lot of work to do before the "really big shoooow" in a month. It runs excellent, though! Never skipped a beat or ran hot...just like it ran before I pulled it apart. I feel like I could drive this car to CA if I had to.. Of course, I'd have to charge the A/C <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/smirk.gif" alt="" />
Smartin
I've been itching to do this for a while...but was unsure of the outcome. I think I like it. I will probably go with the standard whitewalls, though, if I do find a good set of wheels for this car. For now, these stay on. I'll take it to Rochester like this...The convertible really hates me now<img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
Centurion
Adam, the road wheels look great on the LeSabre! By the way, your photos show just how rich and deep Sandpiper Beige can look when it's clean and polished. And, as I've probably mentioned to you before, I prefer these Buicks without the protective side moldings. The cars look really sleek and classy without them. Beautiful car! Of course, I know where there's a set of wire wheel covers that would look nice on your Centurion.
Smartin
I agree about the side moldings, but the car has to be really straight to pull it off. Most of them have been dinged up pretty bad from not having any protection against other doors over the last 35 years, but this one appears to be fairly well cared-for. I would imagine that it was repaired at one time with the repaint it had. I have no idea how old the current paint job is, but it sure does look good. Guest imported_Thriller
Congrats Adam! <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> We all knew you could pull it off...we were pulling for you <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />
Smartin
A/C is ice cold and I'm ready to roll!!! I love R12..The choke seal has an exhaust leak, and it looks like my float is set a hair too high. I see signs of a minor fuel seepage. Other than those things, I think I have everything in order. Centurion
Adam, I wish I could be in Rochester to see your car!By the way, I thought that the 3-speed stick '71 LeSabre sedan in the current Bugle sounded interesting (but way overpriced). Did you see the ad?
Smartin
Yeah, I about lost my lunch when I read the price tag. Does it look purple to you?

Guest Tom
Congratulations on the award Adam. It was nice to be able to meet you and a pleasure to be the one to give you the award. I also appreciate your comments on the Buick-59 website about the event. It was great to hear you had a good time. I saw you drive the car onto the street out front and it sure looked nice, but I never got a chance to get a close look at it.
Centurion
Good job, Adam! Glad that this fine LeSabre received some much-deserved recognition!Adam, I'll be interested to learn whether there were other cars of particular interest that were in your judging class. Smartin
Tom - likewise meeting you! That's the biggest reason I go to these events..Brian - there were a few nice 72 Electras, one of which received a senior...it was super nice...nearly putting my engine compartment to shame <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />There was a very nice 73 C convertible there, but I was unable to check it out closely. Just too much going on for me to study most of the cars in detail. I did see a 71 Electra there, but it was fleeting. I saw a 71 C vert driving on the field on Thursday, but I never saw it again after that. So as far as I know, I was the only judged 71 big car on Saturday. A local member had his 71 LeSabre vert there for display only...and had it parked near me most of the day. Mike Ossenfort, I believe <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />
imported_buick5563
Hey Adam,I saw your car on Saturday after I finished judging and really admired your work. It looks great, even better in person. Also to answer your question from another thread, yes I was given the full BDE speech. Like you, I still have to pick and choose events based on time and money considerations. I'd love to tag along on some of their excursions, it sounds like what I kinda do anyway. I've seen pics on this forum and in the Bugle. I also know Ken Reeves from Wheatbelt and he is a member. I guess we'll just have to wait a few years <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> . See ya,Mike
SBRMD
Adam,Kudos on the award! That car is beautiful in every respect, better than new under the hood, as I told you in person!Chatting with you was a highlight of the show for me; you're really a pleasant, right-minded guy, and that kind of collegial visiting is really what makes these shows fun.As we discussed, got another one for you.....giving it serious thought.Best regards,Steve
Smartin
Steve - likewise with meeting you, finally. It's nice to find someone who appreciates these cars as much as I do. Folks around here like that are almost impossible to come by.You know where to reach me!
