Reatta Year

I don't believe that there are any readily distinguishable exterior changes in the 88 to 89 model years. However there are 5 switches on the 88 and 2 switches directly below the cassette player on the 89.

Besides the difference in buttons, the 88 has no visible latch for the glove box, the 89 does. The 88 was the only year to have the "3800" logo cast into the intake plenium, other years have it on the fuel rail cover.
There are other more subtle differences such as the motor mounts, engine fan sequencing, ECM PROM number, and the brace that goes through the serpentine belt (not on 88) but the logo, switches, and glove box latch are the giveaways.
Note also that the VIN is stamped many places on the car and the underhood emission sticker and driver's door stickers also tell a tale. Can also check the VIN using the touchscreen.

The 1988 does have a smaller hood emblem than the other three years. Seems the steering wheel emblem may be smaller too. The keyless remote was an option on 88's. Suede seats inserts were available on 88's. And the Teves brake master cylinder assembly is slightly different. The 1988 is just enough different to make it interesting. smile.gif" border="0
