Sorry I haven't been out to take a look for you Jon, but I'm pretty sure that's for one of the heater hose tubes

I think the black fitting is for the hose from the water pump.

But the other one I don't know.

Never had one of these trannys out, but could it be a sight hole possibly?

Actually, if not being utilized, it would more than likely be a manufacturing jig hole or a sight hole I would think.

Looks like a heater hose steel line connection as F14 said. It is in a somewhat different location on the manifold as compared to the LN3. It looks like there is a tapped hole right next to it for the retainer on the o-ringed steel pipe.

I tried that, but the fitting does not fit correctly.

I hope some one comes up with the reason for it.

Are you using the pipe from the NA or the SC engine? They may not be the same. And just incase you had any doubt about it being the heater core connection, I went out and checked mine and it is.

No the black fitting is not the heater hose. It conects to the (upper) waterpump and the one on the left is the heater conection. The water pump has the other heater hose coming out of the left (firewall) side. Iwill try to get you a pic this evening.
