Matt Harwood
I'm doing a complete rebuild on my '41 Century and plan to upgrade to insert bearings to replace the babbit. Later straight eights used insert bearings as standard equipment, making the rebuild easier (i.e. cheaper <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> ). If anyone is parting out a 49-52 Roadmaster, or has a set, I'd like to buy them.I'm also looking for a front cover from the same engine that has the rubber crank seal instead of my '41's rope seal. Thanks in advance! Bill Stoneberg
Matt,The is Terrill Machine advertised in DeLeon Tx that will take your old rod and exchange them for new rods with insert bearing. I used them on my 47 and it worked well. They also can supply you with all the other parts you may need (rings, Pistons, lifters, etc.) The rods were about 50 bucks apiece exchange. If you come down and get them make sure you visit their museum.
