i talked to john moglia yesterday about my knobs and trim order from last year and he informed me that he wasnt going to be making any more in the foreseeable future. what bad news. does anybody have any ideas on a person or company that might be reproducing these knobs. i talked to don eash at d&d and he didnt seem interested. i belong to the kaiser frazer owners club and they charge a one time fee for all members for what they call the manufacturing fund. This fund commissions the production of unavailable parts in quantity and then sells them to its members at a reasonable price. maybe this would work for lzoc and lcoc members too. maybe if there were some expression of interest on a large enough scale this could work here. the kaiser club also has large lots of discontinued fabrics made up and sells them at very reasonable prices. i guess for now i will just live with the 41 ford knobs i bought from dennis carpenter. dd [color:"brown"]

Yeah DD, the reasonable price is the problem, most Z owners balk at anything over 25 cents per item, and the repro lenses I have arranged for to be made in Germany, and are of fantastic quality are lanquishing on a shelf and getting very dusty, so I doubt they will be around much longer either, but a hefty order and a good sample would get those '41 wiper knobs etc going strong. We will soon have plastic '38-'39 Taillight lenses and bezels, plastic '41 park light covers and headlight rims with chrome plated plastic, and '41 and Continental stop light lenses, not cheap and who cares anyway?? Sorry, a little sour grapes I guess-

Yes Norm, I gave my man a '40 park lite lense to make plastic dupes of, it will probally be a very small quantity produced, as the lenses are a lot easier to find than good headlight rims, if the '41 HL rims we are trying to re pro are a success, I might try to borrow one of my buddies show-chromed '40 HL rims for a sample and get them made up too, or if there is no interest because they are plastic and a lot of money, I may just drop the whole endeavor

Rolf - senior moment here I guess. When I "speed read" your previous post, I thought I read speedo instead of repro and had the impression that you had speedo lenses "gathering dust on a shelf". In any event, thanks for the quick reply. (Perhaps you know of a source for speedo glass for a '40 LZ).

We were talking about plastic parts before Norm, '41 Park-lite lenses, and '36-'37 tail-lite lenses I have in stock now, and I have found an exact source for new cluster glasses and have some now, $35 a pop, and we have a fix for the clouded speedo needles on '41's, and I am having some bezels "show" chromed by my plater in Arizona, so we can continue with the re-furbished clusters for '41's, and then I keep trying to improve the learning curve on straightening stainless hubcaps, and inventorying all the rusty junk I have acquired, but other than that, I just sort of loaf around-

Hi Cadi, I have been specialising in refurbishing '41 dash instrument

clusters including the speedo needles, for several years, and my customers are apparently pleased and satisfied with them, as I have received no gripes, I have recently had some extra bezels show chromed, and have obtained brand new glasses for them, as well as the new clear speedo needle, that is so art-deco, with only it's red pointer showing the speed, while you can actually see your odometer numbers!! If interested, write me at rolf@got.net or check my ad on the LZOC web site, thanks
