NEED HELP! '62 Special

It might be possible to enlarge the bore in the cylinder body and have one of the aftermarket brake parts suppliers (such as, but not limited to, Stainless Steel Brakes) put a stainless steel sleeve in the enlarged cylinder body such that existing and correct-size kits can be used. This is basically what they've been doing for the Corvette 4-piston disc brake calipers for about 25 years now, so it's a proven "repair"/upgrade that also takes "pitting" of the cylinder bore out of the mix. Unfortunately, you'd have to send them your rare parts and get the operation done OR find some other used ones and send those rather than those currently on the car.

You might also check with the Compact Buick Club operatives. I think there is a link to their contact information on the front page of this website.

Just some thoughts,

Brian,

Four or five years ago I completely rebuilt the brakes on my '62 Skylark. I bought a COMPLETE kit from Kanter Auto Products, which included EVERYTHING, for $130.

The kit, naturally, includes wheel cylinders. More than likely you could purchase just the cylinders from them as well.

Their web site is: www.kanter.com

Or, their phone is: 800-526-1096

Everything was top-notch and fit perfectly. More important, my Skylark STOPS when I step on the pedal. Imagine that!

Good luck,
