roadrunner54177
72 cutlass supreme conv.I can't seem to get the top boot cover on with the top down. It doesn't look like the top is going down far enough for the boot to fit. Is there a trick to this? The car has a glass rear window, if that helps. Thank you,Kevin
rocketraider
The rear window guide links should move the glass window back and under the body tie panel far enough that the top will stack properly. My experience is that if they're disconnected the next thing is a busted window.Try disconnecting the hydraulic cylinders and see if the top will go down any further. It's possible car has had wrong cylinders installed. Is the boot original to the car? It may have shrunk some, or if not OEM, it might be too small.Fisher Body Manual has some adjustment procedures but I don't see one covering stacked height. Guest D. Yaros
Also, is the top folded properly when in the process of being put down. You should have a factory book on the care and use of your convertible top. It explains the process, with pictures. Following the described procedure does make a difference, probably of about 1 inch in stacked height.
