Guest De Soto Frank Posted January 5, 2006 Share Posted January 5, 2006 ?There was an Indiana truck company...don't know how far into the 1930's their production went...they usually built big trucks, but perhaps they offered a lighter "express " truck (before they were called "pick-up" trucks).Trucks were often sold as "cab & chassis" ( without a rear body section) and another builder or the end-user put their body of choice on the chassis...The Indian Motorcycle Company may have had a three-wheeled "service" car, similar to Harley's "Service Car" that might have had a pick-up box or package body on the rear. There were also delivery motorcycles that used a modified side-car, with a little enclosed wire-screened or solid enclosed "package "body in place of a passenger "tub"...I believe See's Famous Candies had a small fleet of such delivery bikes in the early 1930's...To the best of my knowledge, Indian never built any four-wheeled vehicles.Got a picture of the vehicle in question ? Guest leadsled1953 Posted January 6, 2006 Share Posted January 6, 2006 there were truck/van bodies made for harleys and indians in the 30s .they had a rear end like the servi cars or dispatch tow.these were sold in Japan and China in the 30s[WW2 ended this arrangement]there was a great story about this in Easyriders magazine back about 10 years ago. Leadsled, do you have any info on Henderson 4 powered midgets? I've got one that I believe was built in 1925-28, has a lot of Henderson and Model T Ford parts. Guest leadsled1953 Posted January 7, 2006 Share Posted January 7, 2006 my friend who was a motorcycle and midget car racer in the 40s passed away.he was friends with the late Cole Palen[rhinebeck areodrome] and he was a real info person. i saw harley powered midgets with home made water jackets and an in or out gear box.i will seach around to see what i can find.go over to theHAMB website.they are old school hotrodders and someone there will be able to help.post a pic of it please.sounds very kool.check out the aerodrome they have so much stuff from that era that you may find someone also. Guest leadsled1953 Posted January 7, 2006 Share Posted January 7, 2006 i dont have too much on the indian car except seeing it.they may have made a few.dont forget during the war all the motorcycle companys and car companys were making all kinds of prototype jeeps and other vehicles.so ther could be more . the war finished off indian.they came other of the war with a lot of debt because they overproduced for the wartime motorcyle contracts thinking they would keep selling bikes to the army Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Guest Indiana_Truck Posted January 20, 2006 Share Posted January 20, 2006 Indiana Truck sold out to White in about 1932 and the smallest truck they ever made was a 1 ton but they also had a short wheelbase 1 ton that might be about the size of a full size pickup of today. A picture would help a lot so I will try to post a shot of a 33 Indiana Truck here. The best I can do is a 1932 but they look about the same.
