Guest Jeffn
I'm considering sticking with original rims and was wondering if we can craw a 235 in there? I know the wheel will handle the width but how about wheel wells and running gear?
burnfaster
Depending on the aspect ratio ... probably not . A 235 50 is too wide for a stock TC wheel . A 235 60 will rub , moderately . If you can find a 235 55 it'd be a little soft in the sidewall , as it's almost too wide , but with minor rubbing . A 225 50 will fit well in both aspects , with only "friendly" interference (got that out of the service manual . LOL) , but looks kinda goofy with the stock suspension . Guest Jeffn
What's our rims-6.5"? 7" is fine for a 235 but 225/50s would need to be 16" for correct circumference.
TwinCamFan
It's fun to experiment with different tire sizes not so fun if you purchase the tires and they don't fit well. Our rims are 6" only 235 is way too much tire for a 6" rim. A 7.5" rim is reccomended for a 235.I had another FWD Chrysler (a few actually ) that came with 205/50/15 as OE on a 6" rim. Wanting to upgrade I went with 225/50/15- the car handled worse! The extra tire made the car 'squirmy' for lack of a better term. It's only my opinion but I think a very good size for our stock 6" rims is 215/55/15 They have nearly the same rolling diameter as stock, have a slightly stiffer (shorter) sideway for better handling and road feedback and they don't have any 'friendly interferance' issues Kumo 712's are nice and around $40. per tire.Alan
Guest Jeffn
6", man, size does matter. I may try the 215 route for cheap and maybe upgrade in the spring. Spotted a cream/ginger 89 this morning with some nasty polished Borla mufflers and nice Koenig 17s. Here's a pic of our 2.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v123/houseofcharm/PICT4554.jpg
cowancom
Boy those Konig Unknowns look familiar. What size do you have? Mine are 17x8. They were the set in booth at SEMA last year. They look good.
Guest Jeffn
I wish that was my car, near mint. Mine's the cab one in the background. I think they were 17s.
