Jan Arnett
I am looking for the average torque for rod bolts. I am currently doing a 1923 Dodge but I have a 1923 Moon which is next. I just cannot find any mention of the rod bolt torque for old bolts. Can anyone help?ThanksJan
oldford
The standard torque value for a 3/8" fine thread grade 8 bolt is 31 pounds. I would set the wrench at 30 pounds and be done with it. make sure the threads are in good condition, but I would be wary of using old connecting rod bolts that are most likely stretched. You can get new bolts at a decent auto supply store.Frank
